Since I'm a newbie I'm not sure where to put this thread.

When I was about 3 I used to go to Red Barn primary in Porchester, a suburb of Pompey. The Southampton - Portsmouth line used to pass right behind the school. I vaguely remember seeing what I now know is a class 465 (this was the early 1990s) pass by. Since class 465s have never been used on that line in normal passenger service I'd be interested to know whether this 465 was on a test run prior to commissioning.

I remember seeing some pics off 465/466 being tested on the southern, while being commissioned, I beleieve they were based at eastleigh.

Try doing a search for southern electric group (seg) on google. I'm sure it has a history of all southern electrics on it .
