Newcastle renewals

With the works this week at Newcastle, is it a simple renewal of current infrastructure or will there be new movements and speed increases?
Can usually be delayed waiting for access to the station.

I'm not surprised as the curve at Manors means any departure from Newcastle is slow. They could of course remove the rest of that castle which is in the way... (For anyone not familiar with Newcastle the railway goes through the middle of it, which makes the top of the castle tower an excellent location for pictures of the junction being replaced.
