The previous Northern (Arriva) was scheduled to end in 2025. Assuming that the same happens with Northern Trains Ltd, what changes do you believe will happen?

Firstly, I think that the majority of the fleet will probably be replaced as the entire Sprinter fleet will be over 35 years old, the 323s will be over 30 years old and the 333s will continue to experience cracking issues. Personally, I'd like to see Stadler Flirts ordered as replacements to the diesel fleet, maybe powered by batteries or hydrogen when away from the wires.

We don't yet know how future contracts will work or whether there will be new rolling stock.

If passenger numbers don't recover, it may simply be a case of taking rolling stock from other routes and cutting back train lengths / services to eliminate the 150s.
