identical to IE's 071 class, the EMD JT22CW NIR Class 111 is my favourite loco followed by the 201 class in Northern Ireland. here is a picture of 112 on the UP Platform in Portadown Railway station where I work. I remember years ago they used to haul the Dublin trains however they are now used for ballast work and for rescuing 201s

Nice train picture! It sounds a bit wasteful to use a loco like that on ballast and rescueing only.
My favourite NI rail train is class 4000, and if older trains are allowed then it's the modified RB3 single car railbus that used to run on the branch at Coleraine.

It hauls the VMT as well on occasion and can be used to test tracks during poor conditions. a couple of months ago we had really bad flooding between Newry and Portadown resulting in line closure. on the day of reopening it ran up and down the line to test the tracks at a 25mph speed limit

It hasn't run under it's own power for at least 3 years though it has been hauled by a 141 class and tamper in that time. Its last use for passengers was 2012 at a diesel gala.

As far as I recall, last I saw it with the engine running was around 3-4 years ago but no attempt was made to move it at that time. It's on display in the carriage gallery where it's received a bit of spit and polish but I'm not aware of any other plans at present.
