Apologies if covered elsewhere but does anyone have further details on an issue in the Hull area? Northern journey check has a number of services being disrupted for the same reason as below
10:56 Bridlington to York due 12:48 will be started from Hull.
It will no longer call at Bridlington, Nafferton, Driffield, Hutton Cranswick, Beverley and Cottingham.
This is due to a coach becoming uncoupled on a train.
10:57 Sheffield to Scarborough due 13:43 has been previously delayed, has been further delayed at Meadowhall and is now 12 minutes late.
This is due to a coach becoming uncoupled on a train earlier today.
Thanks

Perhaps it is related to a freight train in the area?

Are they being economical with the truth saying a Broken Down train, rather than a divided train? Suppose it is better for the public

Probably more the usual attempt to say something accurate, yet also understandable for Joe Public. After all, if it’s divided, it’s certainly also broken down!

Presumably this particular "mishap" didn't only affect Northern services?

Then why say a "coach" has become uncoupled?
Probably because the information operators select from a menu of possible incidents, and that’s the first option they come too. But you’re right, the thread title and initially quoted info will always make it look as if a passenger train problem for Northern.

I don't think there is a DARWIN delay code for anything other than coaches being decoupled?

That’s the sort of thing I was thinking of, I think it’s been discussed here before that certain obvious events aren’t covered that well.

It's more ridiculous to call it a "coach", which strongly implies a passenger train. Why on earth not put 'a wagon from a freight train'? How hard would it be to add the code to the options? It would be more accurate and far less alarming for passengers! The railway's once-great information reputation continues to slide.

This sounds a bit concerning if it is the 3rd time it has divided in the same area, looks like it needs investigating to come up with solution to this.

Because it requires negotiation and someone to care (as well as the need to update PIS announcements etc.). I understand that the 'delayed due to congestion' only came about because the TOCs kept ascribing any delays from congestion to 'delayed by late-running freight train' and the FOCs were getting fed up.

Apparently after the first two incidents it was determined there was a dip in the track and Network Rail put a temporary speed restriction on, and everything was okay. That restriction has been removed, and lo and behold another divided train.
