Does anyone have any idea if the University services are closed door? I presume not since on the timetable displayed on the Trent website it doesn't state anything. Interesting how the Unibus services are shown on their websites but not N&D's own.
As a side note, their school services - Benedict's & Friesland school, apparently are not closed door according to the notes section on the timetable PDFs, which strikes me as weird.
The general public can and indeed do, use both the U1 and U2 services ...well if they can get on . Students at the Uni travel free, members of the public use their ENCTS pass or pay a flat fare of £2. I did notice that about the Benedicts School services. The general public would have to get off at the stop before the school as they cannot go into the school grounds.

By closed door, do you mean that it is not accessible to the general public?

Unusual choice of word. The Benedicts are accessible to the public to /from the Broadway Hotel... I do wonder if any public passenger actually ever uses it?

I understand Scania decker 47, Volvo/Centro 763 and Solos 1180/1181 (along with a Trentbarton Solo 462) are about to go for scrap. Thought to be Sims at Nottingham.

Shame about 462. I was secretly hoping it’d get preserved.

The unibus’ are open to the public, not under the £2 cap though.

The unibus services have a separate page on the Notts & Derby website:

The first impression one might get from that link is that in August, it is a holiday and there might be no service. You look down and see the September timetable, not one for August..But as we know, the U1 and U2 are currently inter worked, hourly U1 from the railway station at 00.30, to the Uni, 00.50 then on U2, then 00.10 U1 back to the railway station. Imagine just clicking on the date period and getting the current timetable.

1180 & 1181 both originally TM Travel before moving to Notts & Derby.

It would be good to see some proper clarification on if the Derby Unibus is open to everyone or just students. Most Unibuses say if they are for everyone or restricted for students but I can't find any info for Derby Unibus. It's a useful link from the Train Station to the City Centre.

Although I don't think it's properly clarified by the operator, what @Trainman40083 says is correct

I've used U1 previously myself, despite not being a student, to get from the Railway Station into Derby City Centre

Maybe it is more about managing expectations..If for example, it is full, as it often can be during term times, far paying passengers might not get on... Ideal bus for getting to the Florence Nightingale Community Hospital. Caught the U1 from the Railway Station to the Uni today. Dinky Enviro 200MMC 271.

If you are travelling from the railway station to the City Centre, be aware that one operator does not charge as much as £2 single.

I would think that is a fair assumption, maybe with time to check them over. I don't even know when the schools go back.
