Online oyster pickup improvements

From this April it should be possible to pick up online Oyster purchases within 30 minutes, and without having to nominate a particular station. It will also be possible to pick up purchases on buses.

TfL are also planning to introduce an Oyster app to complement this improvement.

Good news. I remember people wanting this years ago... the technology wasn't up to it at the time but it evidently is now.

There's obviously an expectation that no London bus which is in service will be offline for very long.

But that isnt online EFTpos in the traditional sense, as the card numbers simply get added to a database to allow processing of the capped daily total amount overnight.

Yay. About time. Considering the tech, the fact you had to nominate a station seemed very backwards!

Before they could launch contactless, they drove down every bus route with credit cards rotating between the readers making sure there was 3G signal everywhere you can board (see image attached, source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20694027 ).
