Hi all,

I wonder if anyone could help me find the best price for an Oxford to York trip please?

There will be 2 of us (with network railcards in the unlikely event of that being useful!). Date not known yet, but we will be leaving on a Friday evening or Saturday morning, returning that Sunday afternoon or evening, and won't want to commit to particular trains.

The best that I've found on the direct trains is using off-peak returns, splitting at Leamington Spa, for a total of 71.80 each.

But there is such a myriad of reasonable-looking routes that I wonder if it is possible to do it cheaper if we are willing to take a slower route?

Thanks
Ian

If best price means the absolute lowest fare, then Oxford - London (Megabus) from £1, an Oyster PAYG single fare (or walk!) in London, then Megatrain from £1 (but £9 more likely) London - York (train from St Pancras to East Mids Pky ([stn]EMD[/stn]) then a bus to York). And the same in reverse for the return journey.

If you want to go entirely by rail, then Oxford-London Advance, York-London Advance (from £10 on ECs offer).

Yes agree with Yorkie that his suggestion is the Cheapest but you wish not to commit to specfic services.
