A person has been hit by a train near to Saxilby, just outside of Lincoln.

A man has died after being hit by a train between Saxilby and Lincoln Central station on Friday morning.

British Transport and Lincolnshire Police officers attended the incident, which was reported at 4.37am.

The ambulance crew pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The incident is currently being treated as not suspicious.

Northern Rail reported that all lines were blocked due to the incident.

Update 9am: The line has now been reopened.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesperson said: “BTP officers were called to the line near Ferry Lane, north of Boulthan Junction, in Skellingthorpe, Lincoln on Friday, January 23 after a report that a man had been struck by a train.

“Officers attended the location alongside colleagues from Lincolnshire Police and the East Midlands Ambulance Service. The man, who is believed to be aged 35 and from the Lincoln area, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident was reported to police at 4.47am and is currently being
treated as non-suspicious.

“Enquiries are ongoing to formally identify the man, determine the full circumstances surrounding his death and inform his next of kin.

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner.”
