Pictures at Bristol Temple Meads

Which platforms at Bristol Temple Meads would be best for

i. spotting (particularly FGW units)

ii. photography?

None of the platforms are paticularly any good for photography at Bristol. Best stand at the end of the longer ones and photo them on the approach.

If you have full sun the Parkway end is better for approaching shots as you can get a full train set in. The Bath Rd end would have the sun above it so basically you would be pointing right at it! Also not easy to get a full train set in at that end unless you move under the canopy. I would show you mine but fotopic still down! Just watch out for the units that comes into the bays.

If you are doing night shots at Temple Meads, one absolute must is to try to frame the front of a train through those huge stone arches in mid platform. But because it's mid platform that does usually tend to mean it only works with the small 2 car units.

Most people stand at the end of platform 5/7 which is the best place for both things.
