Planning Journeys Avoiding Roadworks

You may already know about this but for anyone who doesn't, there is an excellent free resource available for planning road journeys in England, Scotland and Wales. This covers known roadworks up to a year in advance. I use it mainly before starting out on long journeys. It is called the Causeway One Network and is used by local authorities, utility providers, etc to co-ordinate their works but is freely available to the public. It has 30 data layers enabling users to find the information they need.

I have just checked my local area and it shows no road works, actual or planned, and yet on my journey today between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury there were 4, of which 2 are long term (A470 at Talerddig, and A483 between Newtown and Garthmyl). In fact the only ones in Wales are on the motorway.

Hi. I'm assuming you signed up and got logged in ok. Firstly, have you got all the relevant data layers switched on? Secondly, have you zoomed in sufficiently on the map? I can see many roadworks, actual and planned, across Wales.

I'm using Edge as my browser - might it be an issue with other browsers? I'm not very computer savvy so what browser is in use might be irrelevant!

No I didn't sign up for it.
As far as I am concerned it cannot be a "single source" if I am required to sign up and then search through various data layers.
I want a search facility that is simple and easy; this isn't.

If only "local authorities, utility providers, etc" actually co-ordinated their works...

I've just had a look at the map and zoomed in on the nearest goings-on; while there were some temporary traffic lights there a few days ago, those roadworks certainly weren't in place tonight. If the information isn't current it's useless!
