@88888. Welcome to the forum.

Could you provide further information regarding the journey, in line with the following...

Are you talking about the blue complimentary northern tickets given for delay repay (if you choose instead of payment compensation)?

What do the terms on the rear of the ticket say?

They will write to you asking for your version of events. If you engage with them and haven't been in trouble with them before they will probably offer you an out of court settlement for around £150 plus the fare evaded.

They might ban you from claiming further free journey vouchers for delay repay though and limit you to the other options available.

Thank you, I will wait for their letter. How do they usually ask for a reply by post?

Why are you so rude? I have asked a question relevant to complimentary tickets and if they are specifically mentioned in Conditions of Travel.
Altering a ticket, complimentary or otherwise, with intent that an operator be prejudiced, is a breach of Byelaw 20. So is using an altered ticket.

Telling someone who committed fraud that they committed fraud is not rude. Neither is neutrally telling someone that their question is irrelevant.

How did you obtain the ticket? How many more do you have - used? unused?

Expect that they'll look into the circumstances in which the ticket was issued, together with any similar ones.
If you have any unused ones you might consider returning them to attempt to make amends as long as they weren't acquired nefariously. (This might pre-empt a request from them for you to return any others you have - better to do it before they ask.)

Hopefully none of the others show any indication of having been amended...

Basically I edited the date on the ticket so at the exit of the station I was stopped.
Bear in mind that, if your complimentary tickets have come from a member of staff, you may well be exposing them to disciplinary proceedings by your misuse of them.
If so, you may want to inform them of the situation, so that they can get advice accordingly.

Staff don't get complimentary tickets. This is as a result of a delay repay claim.

Edit: I've seen the pic of the blue ticket. I don't know why, but it didn't show up earlier. Hence my reply.
My apologies, Skyhigh.

Yeah, we do.
They're green passes, similar to Safeguarded BR Privs, with the boxes to put dates in. Usually only get two boxes per the ticket. Issued by the RDG.
Not Northern staff and the OP seems to clarify that it was a result of a Delay Repay claim. The pass is clearly blue.

Is there any danger of all the OP’s Delay Repay claims being reexamined as a result of this? I’d be very surprised if there weren’t a strong correlation between Delay Repay fraud and misuse of the complimentary tickets that Delay Repay claims yield.

It's a very simple reply. Thank you for your letter dated. I aplogise for not having a valid ticket. I understand the seriousness of my mistake and assure you this was an isolated incident. I will ensure I hold a valid ticket for all future journeys. Please will you allow this matter to be resolved by way of an out of court settlement to cover the fare due and your costs incurred in dealing with this matter.

How would the Train Company ever know with a Complimentary ticket, unless the OP had been stopped before, had admitted multiple offences or had otherwise self-incriminated themselves?

This was an isolated incident. My first time. It will never ever happen again. I am so stressed and worried.

Could you post the text of the letter you have received, with any personal/identifying information redacted?
