I was asked on a nearly empty train last weekend what was the policy on pregnant women sitting in First Class. I explained that with a season ticket and a letter from customer services then they could if standard class was empty, otherwise it was the same as the policy for every other ticket holder.

They took it in good part and paid the weekend upgrade, to be fair.

my bold and italics

really?????

Well, I had somone today on the bus who wanted to fold up their pushchair and put it in what used to be the luggage rack, but the're half the size they used to be and one contains a newpaper rack, so I cerously dowbt itwould have fit in. The bus companies aren't helping with their designs there really are they?

The other half took our 6 week baby on the train last week (FGW), and suprisingly all the staff were helpful with getting the pram on and off the train. When she was on board she took the seat compartment off and had it on the seat next to her, with the rest folded away at the end of the carriage. No one complained with her taking up the seat and the guard actually offered for her to use the wheelchair space to keep the pram up....

Might be a different situation but i think it might depend on the day the staff are having

It depends on lots of factors, the route, the train, the time of day. The sad fact is that many of the trains in use are simply too small to provide adequate accommodation for luggage, bicycles, wheelchairs, baby buggies and passengers.

At off-peak times, there's no harm in having a pram/buggy that can be kept clear of the aisle and doorways. In the morning peak, it's rude to just get on and demand people get out of the way, or even potentially off the train completely, to make way.

Busy Holyhead ferry meet. Went off to get my lunch, came back to find mother and large pram/buggy thing (too large to be a buggy, too small to be a pram) parked in the vestibule next to my trolley, in front of the guard's door, blocking it, the carriage door and the vestibule door a full ten minutes before the train was due to leave. Wasn't too happy about being asked to move down the carriage to one of the two unoccupied wheelchair spaces available.

Am also not a fan of those six-foot wide side-by-side double buggies for two babies/toddlers, especially on busy pavements / paths.

I heard about some problems in Porth today involving 2 buggies. Basically a person in a wheelchair wanted to board a bus on a route that only runs about every 90 minutes but the mothers would fold down the buggies and started swearing at the drivers and the person in the wheelchair forcing the drivers to call the depot.

The man in the wheelchair was kindly given a lift down to pontypridd on a bus that was heading down there empty with the management apoligising to him

The fun part was that the 2 women were icked off the bus as the driver refused to have them on and they started swearing even with their kids about, and stupidly in front of to police officers who gave them a good telling off.

I think they got on another companies bus service with some drivers giving this poor bloke a salute

I can say a few drivers had a bit of a laugh when it got around
