Hi everyone.

There’s a new site in Northampton called Northampton Prologis park rail terminal still to open. It seems that there’s 2 freight terminals being built and 1 royal mail terminal being built on the one whole site.

Still to open are two for containers apparently and one for post although they’re not yet electrified.

However one of the container terminals which is next to the new royal mail terminal there also shows a turntable which will be used for the containers ie to shunt locomotive around, but the Royal Mail terminal next to it has a normal shunt end for the locomotive.

If anyone has any further information on which freight services this will attract it would be much appreciated. Will it get electrified as well eventually?

Is this Daventry or Northampton Gateway? More Royal Mail stuff is meant to come out of DIRFT. Gateway won't be open to rail for another year.

Also on YouTube for anyone to view regarding this thread dated Friday 23rd January 2023. By a auditor called DJ audits as a video called no no no, that's where you are wrong sir. However it does show the site really well. But still not finished. Put also has it as Prologis Rfi Dirft. But also shown as Northampton. So am wondering which one it is? However will this site get finished off? What extra flows will it get? Plus eventual electrification.

DIRFT and Northampton Gateway are two different site several miles apart. Is this video just showing both of them? Royal Mail has new paths out of DIRFT in the timetable. Northampton Gateway will just get the flows the freight operators see fit.

There seem to be quite a number of Prologis parks, listed here:

Search for "Northampton" on that page and it finds Prologis Park Pineham, but Pineham seems to be at Milton Keynes.

Prologis RFI DIRFT is effectively DIRFT 3, which is rail connected and electrified. https://www.prologis.co.uk/our-parks/prologis-rfi-dirft
There is also a Prologis Park Pineham, which is adjacent to J15a of the M1 in Northampton and does not have a rail connection. https://www.prologis.co.uk/our-parks/prologis-park-pineham

Northampton gateway is adjacent to J15 and will be operated by SEGRO, looking at the websites. It will have a loop connection to the Northampton Loop, Although the drawings are not clear if any lines will be electrified at first, as some of the roads will be used for gantry cranes. https://slp-northampton.com/the-scheme/

No just the one site. Ie it has the one container terminal with Security challenging the auditor. However the auditor goes up the site launching a drone. And on same site shows the Royal mail terminal awaiting completion nearly with another container terminal next to it. However has a very interesting turntable for the locomotive to go onto the turntable to turn around longside. However site is fully viewable on DJ audits You tube Channel accessible to all. Video recently added to it just before this weekend once again called no no no, that's where you are wrong sir. However the footage on this site is remarkable and the turntable is impressive. However it still isn't finished only the Royal mail terminal is complete.
The container terminals need finishing still.

Also at 7 minutes 10 seconds. DJ audits shows a huge big yellow turntable to shut the locomotive around. On the container terminal next to the royal mail terminal. Ie to turnaround. Quite impressive. Also the site is behind the M1 motorway? However if anyone can upload video to this thread if allowed would be so great the turntable is quite impressive piece of newly built infrastructure.

Think this is most likely the very top one mentioned.

In the video he gives a W3W reference of Supported.works.dabbing, which links to DIRFT so yes it's definitely the DIRFT site.
Interesting to see what new flows and Royal mail services to the terminal this will bring and possibly maybe 769 or 321 postal units eventually to the site as well? Interesting nice development going on there.

aha - a crank. One step removed from those Freeman on the Land fruitloops?
There's a lot of crossover in the thinking.
Thanks - which site is Northampton Gateway then?
Northampton Gateway is the new site at J15, on the road from Roade to Northampton, but it's not operated by Prologis. https://www.google.com/maps/place/S...b74db5c5653db43!8m2!3d52.1846951!4d-0.9012618

The other Prologis site is on the north side of Northampton at J15a, which appears to be having a small extension but not as big as DIRFT.
