Question about track maintenance train

It's probably either a stoneblower or a tamping machine. Both are yellow and irritatingly slow and loud if working nearby at night.

don't think it would be a Tamper/Stoneblower on a 3XXX Headcode? Possible some sort of Test train?

It will be a test train rather than a track machine if it finished at the RTC. It will be formed of a couple of carriages and a big diesel locomotive on the front. It will be loud as it is hauled by a piece of 1950's/60's technology when environmental concerns were not paramount in deign ;)

Thanks for the answers! It was indeed yellow, but I don't remember exactly which of the trains on that page it was.

Train 3Q17 which would be a test train of some description - afraid the consist wasn't entered so I can't tell you what the formation was!
