Could someone please tell me the "quickest" way to get from Tower Hill to Piccadilly Circus (or Charing Cross UG). [For Her Majesty's Theatre, Haymarket]. The fastest route is just not obvious to me!

We will be travelling mid afternoon tomorrow (Friday) if it makes a difference.

Thanks,
Graham.

It's about another 5 minute walk from Charing Cross tube to the theatre.. 10 minutes all in from the platforms at Embankment would be a safe estimate. That will be quicker than changing onto the Bakerloo to Piccadilly Circus at Embankment.

Cross the Strand at Charing Cross Station, walk along the north side of Trafalgar Square and you won't need to cross another road, 10-15 minutes depending on age and whether in high heels!

Thanks All,

Embankment it is then!

Can someone please clear something up for me:

On the Tfl Tube map only the Circle and District lines are showing as available at embankment. Other maps, BBC and Diagrams.org etc. show the Northern line and Bakerloo line available at Embankment as well!

Which is right?

Thanks,
Graham.

Until November the Bakerloo and Northern lines are not stopping at Embankment, as there is no access due to escalator replacement. The official interchange in these circumstances is to walk between Embankment and Charing Cross (indeed the national rail interchange between the two stations has been shown for a very long time).

Whilst not the quickest, there is always the 15 bus from Tower Hill to Trafalgar Square. It shortens the walk at the other end, will be cheaper, you get to see some of the sights of London (St Paul's, Bush House, and, err, City Thameslink) and there's a chance of a proper routemaster.

Thanks, I thought it might be something like that. I would expect that the TFL map would be the most accurate!

Thanks, the bus might be a bit too slow getting there but I think that I might very well use it on the way back. I always seem to forget about buses in London!

I like the 15 bus route too :) Switching for the 23 somewhere along fleet st would get you closer to the theatre

Thanks All,

In the end, as suggested on this thread, we took the underground to Embankment and walked to the theatre. This was a shorter walk than I thought it would be.

We took the number 15 bus from Trafalgar Square for the return journey.

:D:D:D
