We have a two together railcard. This expires on 31st July and we have advances booked for Manchester to London on 29th, returning on the 30th.
Now, we know 29th is an RMT strike day, so more than likely we’ll look to travel on 28th (this pre-supposes ASLEF don’t call a strike that day, which cannot be ruled out at this stage). Going off other bouts of industrial action, tickets have normally been usable for several days beyond their original validity, meaning that in all likelihood our Manchester to London tickets would still be valid on August 1st when the railcard has expired.
What would be scenario here? I’m guessing the tickets wouldn’t be valid simply based on the expiry date of the railcard, but it is a bit of a grey area in my opinion.
It‘s a hypothetical question only because we won’t be travelling on August 1st.
