A regular feature of railtours was the photo stop. This as you know entailed the entire contents of the train climbing all over the track, embankments etc for that perfect shot. Generally this madness ended in a seminar shot where we all posed in front of the locos. Such pictures never appear in the railway press. Do you remember these good times and should Traction,Rail Mag etc publish such pictures in nostalgic features?

If you put the phrase "Bashers Seminar" into the flickr search engine quite a few will come out. As for the dress sense and hairstyles in those photos the less said about them, the better! o_O

Nostalgia is where people look back fondly. Most people don’t look back fondly on the idiotic antics of a sizeable number of people in the 80s in particular. Do football magazines have nostalgic features on the various riots from the 70s and 80s?

Bashing and the odd spot of flailing never hurt anyone. There was some nasty banter amongst various loco devotees but I am unaware of actual violence.
My post is about seminar shots on railtours not about the Peak Army Vs Vac bashers. If a 46 was on the front of a tour why would an EE fan be on it unless it was rare track?

Most photo stops on railtours were organised quite safely. Generally, the inspector(s) in charge of the train would arrange with the local signalbox that the section would be closed to all train movements for the duration of the stop. When the "15 guinea" tour took place in August 1968, they even had the BTP police present to ensure that what looked like half of the Rainhill population could take photographs safely. If there was a "loco change movement" (for example), that was only allowed to proceed when all the tracks had been cleared.

Never remember any injuries or problems, we all had a good time. Wasn't madness was normal and everyone was well behaved

Indeed, that's how I remember the tours I went on,long before the arrival of the real ale bars. Get as many numbers as possible was the motto of the day, never get the beers in.
