Another great day out with Hastings Diesels to Weymouth. Slow climb 37 mph at Upwey, was a very experienced driver, since 1992 route qualified to Weymouth, avoiding wheelspin in very wet rail conditions. Made mincemeat of Parkstone Bank again. The three power car, in total seven coach train was unique for me, the magnificent newly restored Power car 60119 has not high speed run since 1988. Train ran mostly early into stopping stations and was on time in the evening reaching Reading. So nice to see enthusiasts and children on platforms waving to a DMU.

37 at Upwey is not slow on 1 in 50! If the rails are very wet (i.e. effectively washed clean) they tend not to produce slipping anywhere near as much as damp, greasy rails.

it diddnt feel like 37 mph on board...20 or so maybe but then again im jugging it against being in a car so probably not accurate

there was a bit of snatching and i thought a bit of wheel spin but yes skilled to get it up that! i understand now why you used to see 2 73s coupled to emus from bournemouth/weymouth back in the day

Thanks for the info was nice to see both the DEMU yesterday, and 35018 today.
31806 has been scheduled for a mainline foray at the end of the month and early next month, hauling a charter from Weymouth to Southampton as part of the return journey
