Only 102mph through Slough on a single power car.
Haha, looks like the 1830 tonight might be cancelled, with all the enthusiasts on the IET![]()
Could they send a spare power car to Cardiff and swap it there?
NooooooooooooooShort answer no.
The spare powercars are at Laira, and swapping it at Cardiff would be a logistical nightmare
More likely to be swapped for an IET at Swansea

Have been told by someone within GWR that if there are problems with a set at the end of the afternoon that the 18.22 Hereford is the service most likely to be replaced by an IET - poorly HSTs and the gradient up to Great Malvern not being a happy combination, with the need to make a standing start from Malvern Link.
The diagrams will still stand, a set running around OEO isn’t exactly a new problem. The diagram it’s on running along the relatively flat mainline is the best place to keep it too.
However, 43002 and 43185 are not working the same diagram, and 43002 has failed this morning, so will this happen? As an optimist, I want to happen, but I can't think, with my limited knowledge of diagrams, how they would get these two power cars to work one train together. Any help appreciated. We’re hoping for 43002 and 43185 power cars to haul the final GWR class 43 train out of Paddington as these have been re liveried into their original BR branding – BR Blue/Yellow Large Logo (as pictured above), and Intercity Swallow Livery. It is hoped by many that a farewell rail tour excursion will be arranged to commemorate the departure of these trains.
It's amazing that this engine has been working for however long, has just come from Laira (I presume some sort of checkup; I don't know exactly), and on the last day it decides to go pear-shaped!The set's loosing time like a sieve, last time this happened the set was taken out of service.
The website www.rail-record.co.uk (where @trainmania100 got the diagrams for today from) says the following:

Not neccessarily diagrams, but 43198 has lost its 'Oxfordshire 2007' nameplates, and instead has 'Driver Stan Martin' and 'Driver Brian Cooper' namplates

Your posts suggest you are rather pleased at the thought of the plan going wrong. Bizarre. The set's loosing time like a sieve, last time this happened the set was taken out of service.
Oh OK. Thanks for clearing that one up. It would have been nice for GWR (or whoever organises this sort of thing) to put 002 and 185 on the same diagram. They won't be working together, but they were planned to be side by side at Paddington for the photo shoot
One Engine OnlyMay I ask, what does "OEO" mean? I've seen it used a couple of times here.
Thanks,
-Peter

I'm sure they'd rather run it OEO then mess up the plan later. I would hardly say losing 6 minutes between Paddington & Swindon is "losing time like a seive".
Just being realistic, the last set I had OEO, lost 20 minutes and had to be taken out of service at Bristol.
It's got 45 mins turnround at SWA, then about another hour at PAD before 1830, so hopefully should be okJust being realistic, the last set I had OEO, lost 20 minutes and had to be taken out of service at Bristol.
