Thats a great idea, its a shame TFL didnt do that last year!

We live in a country where people who pay £100 a month to be a member of a gym will park right outside the front door in a loading bay or disabled space to avoid unnecessary walking.. so I doubt the uptake would be very high here!

Still, these things are always good for a bit of fun and publicity - and quickly get spread via social networks. Something to read about in Metro I suppose.

How long until someone has a genuine moan about why we don't have them here?

Anyway, with our fares here, I'd say that only Sean Conway would likely raise enough money for a decent fare...

Just because Moscow does it doesn't mean that everyone should be russian to do it :)

I've this vision of handbags going missing very quickly; wallets and mobile phones flying out left right and centre; incidents of heart attackery; folks previous meals suddenly becoming visible; ...

CNET said:
In an effort to promote both physical fitness and the upcoming Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Moscow city officials and the Russian Olympic Committee are allowing subway riders to pay in 30 squats instead of 30 rubles (about 92 cents) for a single-ride ticket.

Riders have two minutes to perform the deep-knee bends in front of a special machine that can tell if they're assuming the correct position. The squat-operated ticket machine is located right next to the electronic vending machines at Vystavochnaya station in western Moscow

"We wanted to show that the Olympic Games is not just an international competition that people watch on TV, but that it is also about getting everyone involved in a sporting lifestyle," Alexander Zhukov, president of the Russian Olympic Committee, told Russian state news wire RIA-Novosti, according to the Wall Street Journal.

I could see people doing that in this country if they were given free rides but the Moscow single fare is apparently 57p so I'd be surprised if saving 57p would encourage anyone over here to exercise.
