Would anyone happen to know where and what the longest and steepest gradient is on the Scotrail 7 cities routes?
TIA
TIA
Many thanks, much appreciated.Beyond the 1¼ mile, 1 in 42 Cowlairs incline out of Queen Street, I'd have thought it would a tie-up between the 13 miles of 1:60 up to Moy summit, and the 23 mile climb from sea level at Inverness up to 1,315ft at Slochd summit - which is also up to 1:60 in places.
Surely the climb from Daviot to Moy is just a part of the longer climb from Inverness to Slochd?Beyond the 1¼ mile, 1 in 42 Cowlairs incline out of Queen Street, I'd have thought it would a tie-up between the 13 miles of 1:60 up to Moy summit, and the 23 mile climb from sea level at Inverness up to 1,315ft at Slochd summit - which is also up to 1:60 in places.

Indeed. About 11 miles in total at 1 in 60 across three different sections plus a couple of miles at 1 in 70 between Inverness and Slochd, the longest 1 in 60 being abouy six miles from Culloden Viaduct through Daviot (with an easing through the former station) towards Moy.Surely the climb from Daviot to Moy is just a part of the longer climb from Inverness to Slochd?
About 7 miles at in 70 on the 18 mile climb from Blair Atholl to DruimuachdarThere is also the long climb up to Druimuachdar Summit. As steep as 1 in 70 in places northbound. It's about 20 miles long.An honourable mention for the climb from Stirling through Dunblane - as steep as 1 in 88.
