The Ethiopian Embassy apologises for abandoned diplomatic car on train tracks
A diplomatic car that was driven onto train tracks and then abandoned, creating major problems in the morning traffic. Now the Ethiopian Embassy takes responsibility for the incident and apologises.
The problems on the railway between Solna and Alvik have been ongoing since 5AM on Sunday.
"Since there is no road access, it has taken a lot of work to remove the vehicle, but at 09.17 the traffic started moving again," says Andreas Strömberg, Press Manager at SL [Stockholms Länstrafik/Stockholm County Transport].
The police and SL were alerted about the minibus, which had diplomatic registration plates, shortly before 2:00AM on Sunday. It was found abandoned on the track and the police have opened a preliminary investigation into negligence in traffic.
The Ethiopian Embassy wrote to SVT that: "Our Embassy regrets the accident and the inconvenience it caused. We have started an internal investigation into how the accident happened."
