I did mention "Honour Killings" in Britain earlier in the thread and one such event that achieved notoriety in recent years was that of the "Honour Killing" by the parents of 17 year old Shafilea Ahmed, who was born in England and was an A-level student who had passed her way through the English education system in Great Sankey, Warrington. Both parents were eventually found guilty of the murder of their daughter and were both given minimum 25 year prison sentences. The girl's body was discovered many miles to the north of her home in the River Kent in Sedgwick, Cumbria.

It still remains the case that Pakistani immigrants from deeply rural areas of that country have a very conservative view of Islamic matters and view the British legal system as far inferior to their conservative Islamic views on how life should be led.

What does this have to do with anything?

A comparison of cultural understanding between the "relaxed" legalistic attitude prevalent in "supposedly-civilised" Britain and the deeply ingrained ultra-conservative beliefs shaped by adherence to their particular cultural understanding of Shariah law of those Pakistani and Bangldeshi immigrants that now reside in Britain. Some on this thread seem worried about the age of the three girls when they left Britain to become members of the Islamic Caliphate in the Iraq/Syria region, but compare this with the mindset of those Taliban in the Pakistan area who ordered the killing of 14 year old Malala Yousafzai for daring to espouse belief in education for girls and those Taliban adherents who then attempted to carry out their decree, where a young age seemed no deterrent to them.
