Should I submit a praise for this bus driver?

Last night, I was travelling home with a local independent operator. As we pulled into the last stop, I went to exit the bus and the driver asked which way I was going. I replied and he told me to stay on the bus, and ended up giving me a lift back to my house on the deadrun back to the depot, saving me a walk in the rain.

Of course, I want to express my gratitude for his very kind actions, but am torn as to whether to submit a praise to the company. Would this be something which, if I brought up, could get him into trouble?

Don't want to end up thinking I'm doing something good only for it to backfire.

Many thanks.

Yes, for every 100 complaints bus drivers are lucky to get one person complimenting them.

Word it that the driver was looking out for your wellbeing by doing so to clear any doubt about being on the vehicle after the last stop

Depends on the operator to be honest. I think with it being a local independent then I’d say they’re unlikely to get into any bother if you write in. I’ve done this very thing before, however as I work for a large operator where you have to ‘cover your arse’ for everything, I’ve always asked control first ‘is it OK if I drop this person off on my way back to the depot?’. But yeah I’d say go for it, it’s always appreciate by drives when they get some acknowledgment for a kind act.

If you're worried they could get into trouble just don't mention that particular bit. You can still send something in and give praise.

Might be best to send in a vague-ish message praising the driver for helpfulness or some such, without going into specific details.

Just thank them for being friendly and helpful. Avoid specifics.

Just send in a thank you message for customer service. Don't mention anything.
