I seem to remember the 158s from the Salisbury crash were there last year.

Apparently there is a small train yard just off the B5045 Shelton New Road in Stoke on Trent. An ex-FGW MK3 can be seen from this Google Street View image:

Does anybody know the purpose or history of this yard?
Used to be a busy freight stabling point at Cockshute years ago. Try Googling images of it in the 70s and 80s for 08,20,24,25,40,47.

oh yes, of course that's down the line towards Crewe on the right hand side isn't it.
Thanks
You might be thinking of Longport, the rail-connected EMD facility.

Reid Freight Services' Longton yard is a non-rail connected site on the east side of Stoke, some distance to the north of the Stoke - Derby line.

Just searched and found this. I see this yard a lot, so it's just a storage until restoration or scrap? Not been as much as I have been recently but there's an old tube carriage and a couple of other heritage ones that I can't get a decent look at. What will happen to all these?

The tube carriage is vehicle 229 from ex-Island Line class 483009. The other vehicle of the unit is preserved at the East Somerset Railway, though I'm unsure what the future holds for this one.

There are also a pair of class 416 2-EPB cars in blue livery, numbers 65379 and 65382, ex de-icing unit 930206. They are spares donors for the group that owns class 207 1305 at the Bluebell Railway, from information in this previous thread:

I note that a class 319 unit has appeared there recently, I haven't quite been able to see which one. Possibly 319214, one of the recently withdrawn ex-LNWR units?
