SWC do seem to be a strange operation, being an independent operator but, on the Yeovil area services at least, modern vehicles and seem to be doing relatively well, esp. with the relatively recent loss of Webberbus and Nippy Bus in Somerset.

Been looking at the latest N&P's for the westcountry today and found this. I am not familiar with this operator and was wondering is this a case of moving to a new location or expansion?

Been looking at the latest N&P's for the westcountry today and found this. I am not familiar with this operator and was wondering is this a case of moving to a new location or expansion?

Fair sized business that has their main base in Yeovil as well as the old Wakes business in Wincanton. Much bigger than First in Yeovil and took on quite a bit of the Dorset CC tenders when Damory lost them in North West Dorset.

The OC looks like the Astons depot at West Pennard. Wonder if they’ve bought them out? Coming up on google as going out of business but were still going in December?

Yeovil always had a lot of independents, some running once a week market day services. Most have fallen by the wayside with just SouthWest surviving, partly through acquisition
They run routes previously served by

Safeway
Hutchings & Cornelius
Pearce, Darch & Wilcox
Brutonian
and some of the Southern / Western National village services

they also have routes in Weymouth / Portland
