good afternoon all. I applied for the trainee train driver role with southeastern on the 14th of June, passed the M7SJT and now waiting for a date for the assessment centre. Had anyone who applied around the same time received their date yet?
From the sound of things the May applicants are getting their assessment invites now so hopefully the June applicants will start hearing from them in a few weeks.

A message to say for anyone that has gone through the entire assessments and interview process for this position but was not successful DO NOT give up! I failed DMI with SE earlier this year, another TOC opened for applicants and am now about to sign contracts. Keep going it’ll be worth it!

Interesting to read others experiences with the application process.

Applied in 19th June 24, Completed m7sjt Assessment 24th June, Email saying passed 24th July
Still waiting for assessment centre invite. Gillingham is nearest depot (I'm Medway so could get to others also)

I did apply back in 2021 and that took a couple of years, almost got to the MMI in December 2022 but failed a single assessment before this stage by a margin. Fingers crossed this time round is more successful .
Good Luck all

Didn't they mention you could email or call recruitment again after the 6 months elasped to resit that failed test? SE are usually good in that area.

I’m in the exact same boat as you.
Also Medway based and my nearest depot is Gillingham.
Fingers crossed it’s soon

I had an email from a guy called Gary Cooper on 25 September inviting me to arrange an assessment day. I didn't see the email until today as I was waiting for an email from Southeastern. Anyway, I managed to book November 1. Anyone else waiting keep an eye out for an email from him, I only noticed when I logged into my Southeastern account just now. Has anyone done the assessment day yet? Just wondered what's involved.

I applied on 13 September, was told my application had been successful on the 20th, completed my M7 on 2 October, and just got an email now telling me that I'd passed, so it's just a case of waiting for some dates at an assessment centre

May applicant here, just got this email which is very interesting. (I’ve already passed my MJ7 and awaiting assessment date)

I would like to start by thanking you for your interest in becoming a Trainee Train Driver with Southeastern.

Thank you for completing the online test for the position of Trainee Train Driver. As you know, you have been successful and passed this stage of the recruitment process.

We received around 15,000 applicants on our recent Trainee Train Driver advertisement and, via screening and our M7 online test, have whittled that number down to just under 5,000. All candidates must be invited in and pass the Train Driver Assessment in order to move through to the next stage in the process. As I’m sure you can understand, assessing 5,000 candidates is a lengthy process. The recruitment team has increased, and as such, we will be able to put on more assessments per week and invite in greater cohorts of candidates to speed up the process.

Becoming a Trainee Train Driver is the most popular role within our business and your invite to assessment could take any time between a week to come through, to a year. I’m hoping this update will help to manage your expectations.

Got the same e-mail as well. As we know, it is a matter of patience.

Hoping someone will be able to provide some clarity.....I know Southeastern is "enhanced"....if you have passed the tests with another TOC that is "standard"....is it the scores from that test that determine if your are enhanced?? If you take any additional tests to get you to enhanced and you don't pass, does that then mean I have lost my original pass?? I am confused

I believe SE use an additional assessment to make it enhanced. I'm fairly sure that it doesn't affect your standard pass.

I’ve replied to the email as I passed a GTR/Southern assessment day earlier in the year.

Interestingly I’ve also noticed the job description (now closed) shows a salary of “£27,639 rising to £62,727 plus free rail travel” - when I applied in June it was “£24,048 rising to £54,575 plus free rail travel”.

This issue is...I didn't do the VSE as part of standard pass....if I did the VSE with Southeastern and if I didn't pass, would it affect my "Standard" pass as I don't want to lose a life.......

Additional tests don't affect the normal tests and only count at companies that use them.

I recently passed the assessment and have been given a date for the DMI. They told me they have vacancies starting in the new year for Ashford.

Has anybody else been given a date for the DMI?

How long did you wait for them to tell you that you passed the MMI?

The higher ££s are up to date, which reflect the recent pay rise.

Do they still give you the 5/6 questions before hand before going for the interview?
Yes, we had a sheet of paper with 6 questions and we had to provide a brief written sentence of our answer before the MMI. The answers were then discussed in more detail during the interview.

Hello,

I have mine tomorrow. Not sure if it was a cancellation as I had a phone call last Tuesday to say one had become available. Been revising the TPWS and info about the company. Good luck with yours
