So basically it would be much better to spend the money on a decent bus station with waiting room etc, better facilities at Leuchars, fancy electric buses, and maybe some bus priority work?
Add demand to current Intercity services rather than add another subsidised service.

However the TATA Steel proposed route involves landtake from Fife Council, the University, Madras Rugby Club, the Golf Courses and runs extremely close to the Old Course Hotel. Frankly attempting to get the Compulsory Purchase Orders on that route approved would be an absolute nightmare! You couldn't pick a bunch of deeper pocketed, conservative organisations to try and annoy if you tried.

Which is another version of my point. If those organisations, who represent a significant proportion of the wealth of the town, aren't prepared to drive or part fund the proposal, far less give up land to it, then it's a total non starter.

St Andrews needs to be put in the drawer marked 'too difficult' for at least ten years.

I was trying to be a little more kind on the basis of who knows what our priorities will be in ten years time.
