Three Vanhool Astromegas in Oxford Tube livery - 50267, 50268 and another which I cannot identify - have been delivered to Arbroath depot this morning, presumably for storage and/or repaint.
Is Arbroath only for Repaints? As I remember a few older Stagecoach Vehicles the former 73 East Lancs One got painted into Strathtay Livery. I know some Buses get stored their and as the Depot behind Dundee Bus Station is no longer there do Strathtay Vehicles come from Perth and Arbroath?Three Vanhool Astromegas in Oxford Tube livery - 50267, 50268 and another which I cannot identify - have been delivered to Arbroath depot this morning, presumably for storage and/or repaint.
No, Arbroath have lots of service work too. There's lots of space at the back of the depot for storage though, there's some Bluebird stuff there as well as East Scotland stuff. Is Arbroath only for Repaints? I haven't heard anything myself - I assume this was said on staff intranet or canteen gossip?I'm hearing they will be changes to the network next week because the lockdown is getting extended.

Without going off-topic, who said the national restrictions are being extended?
The changes are scheduled for 25 January and will be available to the public by the end of the week.I'm hearing they will be changes to the network next week because the lockdown is getting extended.

A lot has changed in the last year and our team have worked hard to ensure you get where you need to be but understandably, we're seeing less people using our services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We've been able to keep a lot of our bus and coach network the same with the help of Government subsidy, but with continued travel restrictions and changing work patterns, we can't continue running our pre-pandemic network in full.
Our local networks have been well used, however our longer distance Express services are only being used by around 30% - 40% of customers compared to previous levels.
So, we're making changes to our Express services from Monday 25th January, along with some minor changes to our local services to allow connections.
Have a look at the list below and view the new timetables to see how your service will change - you may find that you need to change buses at a bus station or park and ride, but the same links between key locations are still available.
You can plan your journey (selecting a date beyond 25th January), using our handy journey planner on the right, or why not check out our handy summary timetables, some of which show the connections you'll need to make to reach your destination - you can find these at the bottom of this update.
Please don’t forget, that right now, your travel should only be for essential purposes.

I'm hearing there will be changes to the network next week because the lockdown is getting extended.
The way I read the announcement, this isn't just a reduction in services associated with the present lockdown. It's a permanent network cut.Full timetables and changes are now available here: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/servi...ticle?SituationId=ID-13/01/2021-09:15:26:914#
Xplore Dundee are about to do the same. The way I read the announcement, this isn't just a reduction in services associated with the present lockdown. It's a permanent network cut.
I don't get the impression they have much intention of bringing buses back any time soon, regardless of the situation with government travel advice. Maybe inevitable, but it's the first time I've seen this type of bleak admission by a large bus company.

There's a lot of speculation there. I think leisure travel will be back by Summer - especially as the elderly and vulnerable will have been fully immunised by then and they make up a large proportion of the leisure travel market. I reckon we will have a somewhat normal summer with just some limits on mass gatherings - but that's probably a discussion for the covid-19 discussion board. You can hardly blame them? The peak buses coming out of Edinburgh can be dead.. The people have been told to stay home, Where is the demand for 15min service to Glasgow? Until we get into Tier 2, which I doubt that's going to happened before the summer now, it just carrying fresh air The Highland show is suppose to be back this year yet somehow, I doubt it will go ahead, same for the Edinburgh Festival. It could be a whole year before we get back to some normality. Revised network still give decent links to all place, just not over the top freq.
I think that's very true. But it seems unlikely we'll see Fife's bus service, or the express network, returning to pre-covid levels even with no covid. As you say, not really a big deal because the proposed service still offers quite good coverage, and I'm sure there will be a few exceptions, like the 747.There's a lot of speculation there. The network is essentially back to where it was (frequency-wise) before July 2019. There will likely be a long-term shift to work from home for a lot of Edinburgh office commuters which lessens the need for a 4 minute frequency across the Forth at 8am and 5pm!
Yeah, the X58, X60 and X61 from Kirkcaldy. Both towns (and Glenrothes) have a reduction of 1 bus per hour to Edinburgh, so it's not really too drastic.Am I reading it right that Kirkcaldy has 3 buses an hour to Edinburgh and Dunfermline only 2? (albeit there is a good service from the P&R sites).
Good to see the X52 going back to
Edinburgh again.
If I remember correctly X58 goes from Dundee to Edinburgh via Cupar and Leven or is that X56?. I also found out earlier that part of the X51 service (Glasgow to Dunfermline) is getting withdrawn being the Glasgow to Livingston Sector.

Stagecoach Fife's Volvo B8RLET/Plaxton Panther LE 54507 (YX18 LHT) is seen here in Eurocentral whilst operating service X51 (Glasgow-Livingston-Dunfermline). The Livingston-Glasgow leg is being withdrawn from January 25th.www.flickr.com
Wow! Sounds busy indeed. I'm sure it will be busy still with that Sector being Withdrawn. Let's see we have X51, X52 coming again soon, X55, X56, X58 , X60, X61. Have I missed any out? X53 used to be a Route from Dundee as with X54. X8 wasn't much point in that as it went from PRI to Arbroath like X7, X42 is still a thing and I think that is it... I would love to see CitylinkGold returning with a Possible G11 service to London or G909/G900 etcYikes, Pre-Covid this was normally a very busy service. Used it myself a few times and after stopping at Harthill Services to pick up more passengers there were only a handful of seats left.
Probably not very many, especially given the town service has been cut to shreds over the past 5 or so years. Although if one is getting the bus into town and back at the moment, the equivalent singles would be £3 or £2.90 return so a £2.70 Dayrider would be the cheapest option.I wonder how many Arbroath Dayrider tickets they sell?
Exciting news! We’re simplifying our fares and tickets to make them more consistent and easier to understand. From Sunday 7th March, our new ticket options will be available with many single fares reduced in price and new multi- journey zones and tickets offering more flexible travel options. The changes are also designed to help reduce cash handling, by reducing the need for change, creating more tickets available on the app and keeping prices below the contactless limit on our ticket machines.
Singles
Single tickets will range from £1 to £10 with a 50% discount for children (under 16) and a 25% discount for students. Young Scot card holders can also benefit from 1/3 off single adult fares.
Check the fare for your journey online (you’ll need to plan a journey after 7th March to see the new fares), on average, our single tickets will either reduce in price or stay the same!
Returns
We're removing standard returns from our fares as the best value option is usually one of our DayRider tickets if you're making 2 or more journeys on the same day.
The 10 Panoramas are from the Oxford Tube orderAberhill depot is to receive 6 new ADL Enviro400 MMCs in the coming weeks, numbered 11560-5 and registered SK21 FJF/J/O/P/U/V. 11560 has already arrived.
Similarly, Perth depot is expecting 10 new Volvo B11RLE Plaxton Panoramas in Citylink livery, two of which (50444 and 50447) arrived at Aberhill depot for pre-service inspection today.
Only just noticed the impression you gained - any thing more than a hunch to the nationalisation idea? I don't recall hearing any rumblings about this emanating from the Scottish government recently...However the announcement left me with an impression they were establishing a baseline for some kind of longer term nationalisation. I suppose time will tell.
No, I have absolutely no insight whatsoever.Only just noticed the impression you gained - any thing more than a hunch to the nationalisation idea? I don't recall hearing any rumblings about this emanating from the Scottish government recently...
