When I started commuting on the South Western division of NSE in the early 1990s there was a very distinctive semi automated announcement system at larger stations. It lasted in to privatisation as the words "South West Trains" were inserted.

What was the name of this system? Who were the voices? When was it finally decommissioned in favour of Phil Sayer?

Woking had male for platforms 1 and 4, and female for 2 and 3, Surbiton and Wimbledon were male throughout. I seem to remember the platform staff in the cabin at Wimbledon manually triggering the announcements there.
