For those thinking that Manchester 'Taps' are charging London prices, the Barrel Vaults (Wetherspoons) at St Pancras charges £4.97 a pint for real ales. And thats the standard price at 'spoons central London station pubs.
To be fair to Spoons (and other central London businesses) look at the overheads they incur.

Absolutely. Just pointing out that provincial city centre prices are not London prices.

Moorthorpe (West Yorkshire) has a pub in the old station building on the platform. It's called The Mallard, and run by Jolly Boys Brewery of Barnsley.

I hope it is cheaper than the pretty art deco bar on the station, I couldn't believe the price when I had (one) pint in there! The Lower Turk's Head is very close by and is excellent for both beer quality and price.

and a shout-out for Wigan Central too, under a railway arch. It's outstanding for beer quality and range (and welcome/atmosphere) I reckon.

If you want to pay London prices in Manchester, yes.

I was buying pints for £4.50 in there, which seems quite normal for the centre of Manchester and other big cities.

It's good if they are planning to open one at Oxford Road as the station lacks facilities a bit.

Wonder how that compares to the Betjamin Arms at St Pancras which is a much better option if having a beer outside in the nice weather is your thing.

If heritage railways count there's the Trackside on the platform at Bury Bolton Street on the East Lancs Railway.
The trackside I guess. I have a friend who goes in there, just for the ale and not the trains! I've been meaning to go down there for ages, planning a rover soon with a day set aside for this. Last time I went the line wasn't even open! Greyhound and the Prince were alive and D7076 was in a bad way.
Well, that is Fullers...
Young's spring to mind too.
Glass of lemonade, please- 'Yes, that will be £4.70'

Both Young's and Fullers sold off their breweries and are now high-end (read expensive) pub operators, mainly in "premium locations".

Fuller's were expensive before they sold the brewing business.

Having a fantastic pint of Flamingo Bingo (a pink lemonade sour by brew York! 3.4%) in the Sheffield tap.

Only popped out to Derby but decent beer attracts me!

I set a new personal record today. Not a pub on a station, but the former Midland Hotel across the road from Cheltenham Lansdown station, so definitely a railway-related premises. It's now the 'Steam & Whistle' owned by The Marvellous Pub Co. and apparently specialises in pizza meals. There's no cask ale available so I opted for a pint of Brixton Brewery keg ale... £6.50! Ouch! But at least they accept cash :)

There's plenty of space on Huddersfield platform. I suspect the lack of platform seating is due to over-zelous regulation.

That was a key reason why I didn't imbibe there late last year.

The platform (I was Nottingham bound via the scenic route whose railcar departed from a dock platform) seemed wide enough to provide plenty of space for civilised drinkers to sit if tables and seats were allowed.

Sheffield Park terminus of the Bluebell Railway has the Bessemer Arms pub at the platform.

you can not compare anything to weatherspoons. Greene King maybe. Weatherspoons price point is also based upon buy food. There are about 800 weatherspoons in the UK so the get leverage when buy products that helps keep their prices down.

There was an attractive looking Wetherspoons just outside Grimsby Town's down platform when I changed trains last year, but I lacked the time to visit.

And yet people do use Wetherspoons as a comparison all the time. However, my point was very valid as they are at the ge low end of pricing and still more than the alleged London prices in Manchester.

Not seen the pub on Platform 3B at Doncaster mentioned, that is a very nice little pub. I see knaresborough has been mentioned for track and sleeper but it is definitely one of my favourites.

Full of absolute delinquents on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday, probably OK the rest of the time. The Yarborough Hotel. Well known for producing a horde of drunken Grimsbyites at 1030 in the morning to pack out the Lincoln/Nottingham/Leicester train a few seconds before departure time.

I suppose at least one can get a nice window seat overlooking the platform.

Stalybridge is my all time favourite station pub.
Mine too when I was living up there. No-one has mentioned the Jubilee Refreshment Rooms at Sowerby Bridge, which I often visited (assuming it's still open). I think Bridlington station bar is now closed. In my current home area, Axminster has the Ale Way (open Thurs/Fri/Sat only) in the former station house.

Old Ticket Office in the "North wing" of Cambridge station is okay if a bit pricey.
Don't go in the Station Tavern nextdoor, it's horrible even if it looks smart from the outside. Even their keg beer tasted off!
Earl of Derby is a 5 minute walk away near Hills Road bridge and is alright for a GK place, a good spot to wait for a train while avoiding the crowds around the station.

Peterborough station has The Brewery Tap (Oakham) a short wander (five minutes or so) away across Bourges Boulevard, with a nice cosy micropub called the Bumble Inn five minutes further walk opposite Queensgate bus station. Both pretty tidy places, the Bumble offers a good range for its size. Brewery Tap is usually exclusively Oakham and I'm told does fairly decent thai food too.

The Beerhouse is a short walk from Bury St Edmunds station, one of a few pubs in the area owned by "Brewshed" who do some decent quality beer.
A nice spot when changing trains from Wymondham "mainline" to Wymondham Abbey used to be the Green Dragon but I have no idea what it's like now, believe it got new owners last year.

Hamilton Hall 'spoons at Liverpool Street is fun if you can get a table upstairs to people watch from, otherwise bog standard spoons.

Not a huge distance from Euston or Kings Cross is the Somers Town Coffee House (it's a pub despite the name), tucked away off the main drag and far better because of it. Served a good pint and had a nice atmosphere in there. Far better than the Parcel Yard in KX itself which seemed to be overcrowded and serving bad pints when I went in there one lunchtime.

Euston Tap is good fun. Nice in the summer but entertaining in the winter - back in February myself and a mate had just bagged the one table without an umbrella as it started to rain...
If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, Mother Kelly's taproom near Bethnal Green station (under the rail arches) is worth a visit although its prices are high even for London.

Has anyone ever tried the little Platform 1 bar at Ely station?

There's the Ale House in the arches at Chelmsford that has a wide range of beers.
Seconded. There's also the Railway Inn and Original Plough within metres of each station entrance, and at least one other craft beer house within the railway arches. Throw in the Royal Steamer and a good pub crawl can easily be found within a 150m radius of Chelmsford station.

On platform, the Metro has the Left Luggage Room at Monkseaton, also Platform 2 at Tynemouth. Hexham has the Platform Bar and of course almost on the platform is the Boathouse at Wylam. Excellent real ale available at all of these. Close to Scarborough is the Stumble Inn (worth the few mins walk).
