And in turn I had forgotten the fifth through platform! Fair point.Ah yes, I'd forgotten about this. Thanks.

Both are well-sited for the city centre, and both have adequate capacity for the service level they get. In fact Forster Square could get by with two platforms for most of the day, even before the recent cuts to services- hence one of the platforms being used to stable a unit for most of the day. They're both a bit rough around the edges, granted... but nothing a deep clean and a lick of paint wouldn't fix.Bradford Forster Square and perhaps Bradford Interchange (Exchange)

As I recall, a long through platform was removed during a rationalisation. Would probably be even more useful, so why has it never been reinstated?Aberdeen station probably fits this with its lack of platform 1 and 2. Really struggles for capacity.
Outside scope of thread but just as frustrating, the Balloch branch was singled in the 1970s which means the line is restricted to a half hourly service. No prospect of any peak additionals or special workings for any events at Loch Lomond.
At Aberdeen (looking at Google maps) the Carriage washer is right where that platform line would need to go. Reinstating the platform would probably require a reasonably significant reconfiguration of the depot. As I recall, a long through platform was removed during a rationalisation. The original location for both stations were much closer to the city centre particularly BDQ and both are shadows of their originals. Hopefully the cuts to the services will be reinstated soon. Both are well-sited for the city centre, and both have adequate capacity for the service level they get. P12 is expected to get reinstated once new station entrance works are completed. This will come at the cost of the Forth Banks turnback siding howeverOnly 3 bays at the west end now that P12 has been taken out of use. This is because P11 has been extended to accommodate a 5-car 80x, overall much more useful.
