When everything's finished, will it be quicker to walk through between Stratfords Regional and International through the shopping centre, rather than take the DLR extention one stop (and pay for the priviledge) ?

I think it will be one of those 'six and two threes' situations. Looking at an aerial view, the distance between the new northern entrance and the international station as the crow flies is about 500m, or about twice the length of the main line platforms at Stratford. So about a 5 min walk. If the DLR runs at 12 tph the times are going to be pretty much the same...

Either a walk through the shopping centre with the distractions of John Lewis or Waitrose. Or £1.30 for one stop on the DLR.

I'd have thought you'd be allowed to transfer for free between Regional/International, much like at Heathrow -- but considering there's a shopping centre in between, that would be pointless:|

As for the supplement, HS1 isn't part of the national rail network, its just NR got the maintance contrcat hence the supplement. With HS1 being sold off now privately that supplement is going to say no matter what anyone says as it will be a private railway.

They shouldn't sell off HS1 but it seems common sense is out the window on this one!

Indeed, typical of this shambolic country.

Estates Gazette has a video of the new John Lewis store which is due to be handed over from the developers to the company. The video includes a clip of Stratford International and escalator link direct to John Lewis. For those interested you also get an idea of the shopping boulevards which will link Stratford, Stratford International and the Olympic Park.

All very impressive. Good to see it from this angle as only normally get a look when passing on the main line & to/from Orient Way sidings. Think M&S is the major store on the other side.

You're right, John Lewis and M&S are the two anchor stores either end of the development with 200+ shops in between. The John Lewis, which will also house a Waitrose in the basement, is the largest outside of London's Oxford Street.
