What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
Thinking about HS2 and Midlands Powerhouse where the London St Pancras (limited stop) and Birmingham trains would transfer to when complete, I have thought of a suggested service pattern listed below.

1tph London SP - Nottingham (the one that calls at Market Harborough, Loughborough, etc) traditional InterCity
1tph London SP - Sheffield (the one that calls at Market Harborough, Loughborough, etc) traditional InterCity. Possibly extend to 1) York calling Rotherham Masborough/Parkway, Pontefract Baghill, and York; or 2) Leeds City calling Rotherham Masborough/Parkway, Wakefield Westgate, and Leeds.

Both the above would provide a train every 30 minutes between London SP and East Mids Parkway.

1tph Matlock - Grantham calling all stations except Netherfield and Elton & Orston, which will alternate calls on request between them (1tp2h for each). This would eliminate 1tph terminating at Nottingham from the Beeston direction.

2tph Mansfield Woodhouse (1tph from Worksop) - Gedling calling all stations including Netherfield. Track required Netherfield - Gedling. Also, another 2tph eliminated that terminates Nottingham from the Beeston direction.

1tph Nottingham (or Derby) - Norwich Regional Express calling Bingham, Grantham, Peterborough, March, Ely, Thetford, and Norwich. This is the eastern half of the present day Liverpool - Norwich which is expected to be split.

1tph Nottingham - Skegness Regional Express calling Radcliffe, Bingham, maybe alternate calls every 2 hours between Ancaster and Rauceby, Sleaford, Heckington, Boston, maybe a reopened Firsby Junction south of the original location, Wainfleet, and Skegness.

1tph Grantham - Louth and Skegness calling all stations, including a maybe reopened Firsby Junction south of the original location. Portions could couple and uncouple at Boston. Swineshead, Hubberts Bridge, and Thorpe Culvert to be made request stops with trains calling every 60 minutes. Havenhouse to be formally closed unless there are plans for residential developments in the fields south of the station.

1tph Leicester - Grimsby Town via Lincoln Central, and 1tph Crewe - Newark Castle remain as present.

1tph Peterborough - Doncaster via Sleaford and Lincoln Central.
1tph Doncaster - Gainsborough Central.

Both the above would provide a train every 30 minutes between Gainsborough Stations - Doncaster, with a call at a reopened Finningley.

1tph Sheffield - Lincoln Central. The section of the route between Clarborough Junction (east of Retford) and Saxilby could be revised to run via the diagonal line that runs via Cottam, depending upon if the former power station is going to be redeveloped.
1tph Sheffield - Barton on Humber or Cleethorpes via Brigg. 1tp2h would run to each of the eastern termini, with the Doncaster - Gainsborough Central coupling and uncoupling at Gainsborough Central. Also, trains to/from Cleethorpes would also call at all stations between Barnetby and Cleethorpes, doubling the frequency at those which are served solely by the Cleethorpes - Barton train.

Both the above would provide a train every 30 minutes between Sheffield and Retford.

1tp2h Cleethorpes - Barton on Humber, and 1tph Liverpool - Cleethorpes via Scunthorpe. These would remain unchanged.
