Alrighty then, I've eventually managed to cobble together the routeing of one of my first ever all line rovers, that being in the summer of 1984 when I was 17 going on 18. I was never one for taking numbers unfortunately so this is just a list of the trains I went on. Not that interesting really, except perhaps to enthusiasts or anyone who did something similar but hope it is of interest to someone. This brings back so many memories though, I can almost smell and feel the trains now.
There is one thing I am not exactly sure of and that is the Thurso - Penzance run and associated trains. I know I have done that trip in 1 hour less than shown in the attached list (I remember being due into PNZ at 1158) but my info definitely shows summer '84 for this trip. I must have done it twice, maybe a year or 2 later. Does anyone have info as to when there was an 1158 arrival into Penzance from Bristol? Either that or I made plans to do it the second time and never did the trip as I can only remember being in Thurso once. Could have been twice though.
I also did a 7 day rover in Feb '85 and I'm trying to track down my notes on the trains I did then. That one definitely includes the cushions on the overnight from Euston to Fort William via Glasgow QS in the middle of winter and no heating or lighting in the carriage from Glasgow QS. Marvellous stuff.
