Hello there

Apologies if this is completely the wrong thread. Most grateful for any advice as don’t want to rely on apps alone.

I’m planning to take my oldest on a couple of days out of the Christmas period by train with a back up option of a taxi to and from the station

I am wondering if anyone with local knowledge is able to advise on

1) Bentley station - is there any available taxi rank / is the station served by any reliable firms or Uber - going to Birdworld

2) looks the tougher journey on public transport but wondering about Andover Station (in respect of taxi rank / Uber etc ) to a lovely place called the Hawk Conservancy Trust - not sure there’s any bus routes at all so would rely on a taxi

Any observations or local knowledge very gratefully received . Travelling from North Esst London so via Waterloo

I am sure I’m not alone in thinking that the websites of lots of family attractions like this could do a lot more to promote public transport use by providing proper detailed info

Birdworld has to be fair a detailed walking route from Bentley station but looks more for the summer

Thanks so much !

Hello! I’m a Farnham resident and Birdworld is very local to me. Bentley is in the middle of nowhere and Uber is a nightmare. If you get off at Farnham instead, you can take the 18 bus which will pick you up right outside Farnham station and drop you off right outside Birdworld ten minutes later :)

You won’t find taxis at Bentley so again I’d recommend Farnham if you want a taxi.

That’s really helpful thank you. Will look up the 18 bus from Farnham which sounds completely ideal. Is Farnham relatively ok for a taxi if the bus isn’t working or really delayed etc .

Farnham has a taxi rank as a backup.

The walk from Bentley to Birdwold is nice but as you say, it's not really the time of year for it. It's through a forest and is likely to be muddy in places.

For Andover & the Hawk Conservancy Trust, you will probably need to use a taxi to reach it. Where the village of Amport is served by an infrequent (3/4 a day) bus route it will be a good mile walk along a narrow country lane.

Andover station does have a taxi office located close to the station, but it might be worth booking one in advance (as it might be cheaper).
