With the continued demise of public Telephone Kiosks (boxes), I was pleasantly surprised to see a 1968 K8 red box on Worcester Shrub Hill station.

This got me wondering, how many red BT phone boxes are there on UK railway stations and where are they located?

If people reply here it would be good to know if they're operational or have they been turned into eg: defibrillator housings, free libraries etc.

Nice to hear that one is still there. Used to be an integral part of trips to the station when I little

K8’s are particularly rare in general, let alone at stations. That’s quite a find.

I know Chester still has a K6 (the more common type of “classic” red phone box with a domed roof.

I know it's not quite what you asked but there's a lovely "modern" silver one at Portsmouth Harbour with (I think) three little booths in one - it's quite futuristic in a 70s sort of way ! I'm not sure if it works

There's 2 outside the booking hall entrance to Preston station which still work.

OT: There is a red kiosk just by Amberley (but not on the station itself). It worked until a few weeks ago. It had been configured to allow free calls to UK landlines and mobile numbers.
I used it most times I visited the museum next to the station.

Phone boxes are starting to be listed. While not on the "big" railway this article from Historic England covers 4 listed boxes on the underground:

Four rare K8 phone boxes on the London Underground network have been listed at Grade II for the architectural and historic interest by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) on the advice of Historic England.

The phone boxes are situated on platforms at High Street Kensington, Chalfont and Latimer, Chorleywood, and Northwick Park stations.

Surprising that they’ve listed those that have been repainted in blue and (presumably) containing operational comms?

The Shrub Hill K8 has been listed since 2009.

Rhyl has a K6 at the bottom of the footbridge on platform 1, though it looked a bit neglected the last time I passed it. Bangor still has one too, I think.

One outside the Euston Road entrance to St Pancras. I don't think it's got any innards but it does get loads of selfies from tourists.

Not a red box, but I was surprised to see a pay phone in the waiting shelter at Brigg recently, although I would be surprised if it actually works.

Helpful to call a cab? Infrequent service on that line?

Interesting to learn the box at Shrub Hill is listed. Some are but most aren't, maybe they're listed if they contribute to the character of the station?

Some have been listed for a long time and therefore removal can be difficult.

There's a working red telephone box outside Derby Friargate Station. Just a pity the station closed in 1964!

Not red phone boxes, but Shrewsbury has a group of at least 6 BT payphones all next to each other on the platform. They only accept coins as well, proper old school.

Not a red phone box, but there's been a disused BT payphone at Lewes that has been out of service for a least a decade. (By the cafe underneath the big ramp). For years there was a poster on it from station management apologising that the phones were out of service, and they were waiting as BT were taking their time to remove the phones. The poster has since fallen off, and the phones are still there...

It seems BT has precedent for taking ages to deal with old infrastructure: outside of the railway, I remember seeing a phone box that had been concreted around when a pavement was redeveloped. The council had gotten so fed up of waiting for BT to remove them, that after a year they simply went ahead with redoing the pavement surface (involving raising it by six inches) which meant the base of the door was concreted in and therefore the box no longer opened!
