With the Marches expected to be closed until end of service tomorrow unlikely to see any Mk4 sets for the duration of the closure.
A logistical issue too for stabling as all 7 sets are north of the block. 2 sets ended last night in Shrewsbury. Crewe is already full so I believe at least one will head to Crewe ETD, the other potentially to Holyhead for stabling.
From RTT it's difficult to follow events yesterday on the Marches with the track defect between Church Stretton and Craven Arms.
Southbound was closed from about 1400, but northbound kept running till about 1500 and then reopened for the early evening before finally closing.
Several Mk4s got though northbound in this window, but none running today.

The NRE advice is pretty vague as to what the problem is and when it will be fixed, as they are still inspecting the track.
Meanwhile it's 197s everywhere with buses Shrewsbury-Hereford/Llandrindod.

Northbound
All worked through as normal as possible, Loco hauled wise
1W63 & 1W96 both ran
1W65 was a unit because 1V46 only got to Shrewsbury.

Southbound
1V46, 1V50 & 1V62 all
Only got to Shrewsbury.

The day ended with
67010 set 5 at Holyhead, 1W96
67008 set 1 Crewe, 1W63
67016 set 7 Crewe, 1V46
67017 set 6 Shrewsbury, 1V50
67025 set 3 Shrewsbury, 1V62

67022 set 4 - B exam Crewe
67014 set 2 - Spare Crewe

After they have fixed the Bridge in Cardiff and all is back to normal :s? What is the likelihood of getting a class 67 set on the Manchester to Cardiff 14:30 please.
Desperate for 67 haulage and a last ride in a MK4 (perhaps).

The tfw mk4s aren't going anywhere soon so don't worry.

If you mean today, next to none. I’d also look at alternative routes if you want to avoid a bus from Shrewsbury - Hereford.

If not today, the 14:30 is a good bet. That diagram starts in Holyhead of a morning, so your best bet is to check if any mk4 goes north on 1W96 17:22 Cardiff - Holyhead the day before you travel, as that is the set which forms the 14:30 ex Manchester the day after*

*subject to normal set swaps, which are picked up pretty quickly in here

Thank you Anonymous10 I don't get down that far very often so hence the anxiety! Similar worries about the HSTs up here but talking to a driver he says they are going to be around for a while too despite their cardboard cabs.
Thank you MP393 I just don't want a DMU. It's bad enough that I am to be rattled down to Manchester by TPE CAF rattly bounce EMU.

There was talk yesterday of putting SLW in place purely for freight and essential ECS movements. It's not really practical for any kind of passenger service to run.

Local sources are suggesting that it's a collapsed culvert. (Sorry....can't give a quote for fear of getting a friend into trouble!)
Don’t worry. The BBC have called it one already.

NR’s civils are having a bad spell that adds to the strong whiff of arrogance in their route MD’s Modern Railways article in March.

Aw here we go every time I book a rare outing there is an infrastructure failure!
Travelling on Wednesday so getting risky.
Are mk4 sets still doing Manchester to Shrewsbury?

No. Without completely rewriting the traincrew diagrams from scratch it's too hard, Shrewsbury drivers would end up on MK4 services. Manchester - Shrewsbury requires 3 sets for an hourly service, meaning MK4s would end up on services they're not normally booked on
