My apologies if this topic has been discussed already on this forum, so far I couldn’t find this information myself.

Yesterday I visited the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre, which is at the site of the Quainton Road Station north of Aylesbury.

I was surprised to see that the tracks now end at the station, which is not reflected on Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/London–Aylesbury_line.

Does anyone know when it happened? Is it related to the HS2 or the East West Rail project? Is this line going to be reinstated?

Also the Fishbone website that there have been four railheads constructed in that area to serve the HS2 works: https://fishbonesolutions.co.uk/cas...lvert-north-and-south-aylesbury-and-quainton/. What is their current status? The Quainton railhead looks to be quite heavily used according to the Real-time trains, what about the rest? Do I understand correctly that the Calvert railheads are now not reachable by rail from London - are they reachable from the other side, or are they completely disused less than two years from opening?

Also where exactly are those railheads located? For example, the Quainton railhead needs to be reachable from London, so it cannot be further down the line than the Quianton Road Station. I think I’ve read somewhere that it is on the Quinton Road, which is to the side on the line and the station (here? https://maps.app.goo.gl/Y4aRKdnAuvfjCtE26?g_st=ic) - was a new railway spur constructed to serve it?

What are the future plans regarding those railheads? Are they going to be closed once the HS2 works are complete in the area? Will the be used for something else?

Sorry for a lot of questions, I am genuinely interested to find more about this!

They were always going to be temporary for the construction of HS2. Calvert cannot be reached anymore and the aggregate needed initially has been delivered. The token section now only gets trains to Blackgrove Road. As for E-W using it between Greatmoor and Claydon, thats anyones guess at the moment.

The track was lifted I think around 18 months ago for HS2 work and will be reinstated, as of course Calvert waste disposal site will have to be reconnected to the rail network.

Also the Fishbone website that there have been four railheads constructed in that area to serve the HS2 works: https://fishbonesolutions.co.uk/cas...lvert-north-and-south-aylesbury-and-quainton/. Calvert is not currently connected by rail from any direction, as you have seen yourself the track has been lifted.

The originally proposed 'spur' from EWR at Claydon to Aylesbury was due to run alongside HS2 for some distance and HS2 have been contracted to relay the track north of Quainton as part of this project although the spur itself has now been kicked into the long grass, however the track itself will still be laid to the original 90mph line speed as far as I am aware, despite only proposed for freight use at this point in time.

Network Rail press release - sorry if this is the wrong thread

People in Aylesbury are being invited to find out more about major railway upgrades which will improve Chiltern Railways journeys for passengers and prepare for Britain’s new high speed railway, HS2.

The events will give people the chance to ask questions about the projects which will see changes to journeys between Aylesbury, Princes Risborough and Amersham from August this year.

Read again: Changes to Chiltern journeys due to railway repairs and HS2 work

Network Rail will hold several drop-in events in partnership with Chiltern Railways and HS2 on:

Wednesday 28 June between 3.30pm and 7pm: Stoke Mandeville Village community centre
Eskdale Road, Stoke Mandeville, Buckinghamshire, HP22 5UJ

Thursday 6 July between 3.30pm and 6pm: Princes Risborough railway station
Station Approach, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, HP27 9DN

Thursday 13 July between 3.30pm and 6pm: Aylesbury railway station
Station Way West, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, HP20 1RU

The first stage of work will see Network Rail engineers making permanent repairs to a Victorian drainage culvert which passes underneath the railway in Aylesbury.

Faults found in the structure earlier this year* have since led to repeated short-notice closures of the line causing disruption for passengers.

To fix the issue once and for all, a 12-day railway closure is needed to repair the culvert between Monday 7 and Friday 18 August.

This will impact all trains between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham and Aylesbury and Princes Risborough.

You forgot to include the significant point that the 12 day closure runs directly into the longer closure for the line diversion onto a new bridge being undertaken by HS2, that then finishes 10 weeks later at the end of October.

I think you’re right the latter closure might already have been mentioned in one of the many HS2 threads somewhere.
