Can't see anything for the 29th, the tour on the 26th will have Swanage Railway's 31806 between Weymouth and Southampton.
The tour is also scheduled to run again on August 2nd and 17th

Sadly 31806 will reportedly not be involved tomorrow as it has apparently not been "gauged". It will be diesel hauled for that section, with presumably the diesel on the back all day.

Thanks for the news, how often does stock have to be gauged, as it has previously worked a test train on the mainline?
I presume the statesman tour will not come through Southampton and Bournemouth but via Dorchester

Train has just left Victoria. 45596 is the main loco. 47802 is coupled onto the rear of the stock so that will be "enjoyed" from Weymouth to Southampton later on.

47802 is an old workhorse at least. Much better than today's stuff. The best wcrc loco after 47804.

Even if nothing has actually changed, gauging certificates have a shelf life and need to be renewed every so often. 31806's may have lapsed.

As I understand it the gauging lasts for a year subject to no alterations to infrastructure or loco. Also, a class where there are several main line registered examples, Black 5s for instance, only needs to have one loco gauged for all of them to be cleared to work over the same line.

I should hope you did enjoy it. Best part of the day as far as the traction is concerned.
I was at rear of the train for the class 47 leg so couldn't hear the thrash. As for the best traction anything steam, diesel loco or with a pantograph I am happy with except for the unspeakable awful 700s.

Tour operator says diesel hauled Weymouth - Southampton
Can't find anything on RTT regarding 31806 Swanage to Weymouth and Southampton to Swanage.
What a shame

Correct, although technically the certificate lasts for up to a year, but can be renewed for a further 12 months at any time. The gauging system adds a certain margin of error based on the age of the data, so you might get a gauging authority back with lots of restrictions and then 2 weeks later the NMT runs over the line and updates the data so you reapply for the certificate to get the restrictions removed.
Also, a class where there are several main line registered examples, Black 5s for instance, only needs to have one loco gauged for all of them to be cleared to work over the same line.
Very nearly - gauging is done by profile (essentially the outline), so any loco that has been certified to the same profile can share certificates. For admin purposes a loco number is nominated on the form, but it's the profile that matters. Black 5s can share, but I think not all Jubilees can share as one or two of them have slightly different profiles due to cabs/chimneys or something. I think a couple of the GWR locos may also have differences within class that don't allow profiles to be shared.

47802 quoted again for the Last Dorset coast express this week. Also on Thursday The Northern Belle from Birmingham -Weymouth & Rtn runs. Also the ecs runs to Yeovil pen mill and back to avoid congestion at Weymouth.
