Was this film "The Gold Express"? in which a newspaper reporter foils a gold robbery on an express train?
If so, then while there are a few stock shots, mostly from the film "Train of Events", the majority were indeed filmed on the WCML, although I don't know the exact locations involved.
The station at which characters get on the train was the terminus on the former LMS Harrow/Stanmore branch,

If "The Gold Express" (1955) was indeed the film in question, then the 'ReelStreets' site also suggests that the Stanmore branch is a likely contender...

On his British Railway Movie Database, Jonathan Horswell advises that this is Stanmore Village station, terminus of the long closed branch from Harrow & Wealdstone.

No the the drama in the first episode starts with bullion arriving by air at an airport and then being stolen & the third episode is were the marksman is firing at random
from the water tower steps at passing trains etc

A look at IMDb shows The Gold Robbers as being a 1969 TV series with Peter Vaughan as the main detective. The airport at the beginning was Blackbushe, but that is the only location in can find, but as it was London Weekend Television it was likely to be home counties’ locations.

There was a showing of "The Runaway Bus" (1954 film) on 'Talking Pictures TV' yesterday (Sunday). The plot of same sees £200,000 worth of gold bullion stolen by robbers from storage at London Airport and then hidden in the boot of a coach driven by Frankie Howard's lead character. Might that have been the film?
