I do hope we start to hear at least something soon, when I had my DMI in July Claire asked if I had any holidays booked, which I do have a Florida holiday booked for October 16, she said it should be fine as I will probably start my course in January 16 and be out of the 6 months no annual leave by then, but not looking so great at the moment.

tbh I find this post quite encouraging. If in July they were already preparing / planning for that batch to not start til Jan, then we're all still on schedule and theres no panic

I'm not worried at the moment I will however start fretting if I haven't heard anything by Christmas.

Tried the HR number a couple of times ... Fruitless

Why should they pickup to hear yet another ridiculous "when will I get in?" winge?

They will contact you when they need to tell you something. That's how it works. That's how it works where I am.

There is no point in leaving the phone ringer on when the only time it rings is when yet another "you've no right to leave us hanging like this" moan is being broadcast.

I agree mate. I don't come on here very often as get fed up reading the same " hope I'll hear something today" messages. Facebook and Twitter is the place for such inane posts. Back in the day when the internet was invented I recall forums (or bulletin boards as they were known back then ) were places for sharing factual information, not whinging that you think a potential employer owes you something because they asked you to jump through a few hoops as part of their recruitment process.

Good point well put. But what if I'm ringing to tell them I've moved house?

I've rung them once since July - to tell them my notice period had changed, which is what they asked me to do in DMI. What if I tried to do that today?

Not every phone call is the " when am I getting in ? " question.

Hello again all,

if it's of any use to anyone, Since Claire left GTR and handed the recruitment side of things over to the people at Southern, I have spoken to them (as I'm sure many of us have) and the lady there told me that they were aiming to send out an update towards the end of November, but to call them if I hadn't heard anything by then.

A friend of mine mentioned to me the other day that one of his friends (who is also in the GTR talent pool) has been given a course for the 30th Nov, but that he also passed his interview in May.

So I think we can take comfort from that in as much as there are courses going through, but as the talent pools are run on a first in first out system, and we don't necessarily know where in the queue we are, we just have to be patient. I don't know what depot he was down for though, so depending on your depot of choice the dates of May - November might not be a reliable estimate due to the fact that each depot has its own talent pool queue.

Out of interest, how long have people been waiting? coming up to three months for me, I'm waiting for Kings X.

So it seems that a lot of people here have been waiting for a fair while then.

*Thinking out loud*
If my mate's buddy passed his stuff in May this year and got a course for Nov 30, that means he was waiting for approx 5 months (may inclusive). I wonder if that could mean that 5 months is a reliable estimate on how long it takes to move through the system from completed process to course date? If so, that would mean people who went through in August (like me) could expect to get a course for around the Jan/Feb time next year, But then again, I have no idea if all depots move through their queue at the same speed.

The HR lady at southern did tell me they had no more courses for the London depots planned for this year though, anybody heard anything that might indicate whether course allocation might speed up a bit next year?

I wouldn't try to look too deep into it tbh.

I would just sit tight and wait for the next update, you have the rest of your life to devote to the railways, what's another few months waiting ??????

No luck with the email, but I did get through a few times on the phone. That was about a month ago though.

All,

Every number I have (mobile or landline) now defaults to failure.

Could anybody please offer a message with a number for somebody in the new offices?

Thanks.
