There are no more services from this location now, so we call it a night before boarding the 0558 First Great Western service 1A77 to Westbury, arriving there at 1000 on Wednesday morning.

We have a look at the possible destinations from the harbour: Jersey, St Malo, Bilbao... places we can now explore.

But not on this journey. We stick to dry land (having recently visited the Isle of Wight), and board the 13:12 Southern service 1C57 towards the Capital (which joins to 1C55 at Horsham). We alight at Crawley at 14:28 on Wednesday afternoon.

We then decide to visit a station whose name intrigues us by taking the 1603 Southern service to Christs Hospital, arriving 1636 on Wednesday afternoon.

There's no more buses from this stop towards Brighton, so we walk over the A23 flyover to the bus stop at The Castle, where we stop for a drink but end up having a Chinese instead... before boarding the 20:15 Metrobus 273 service back towards Crawley Bus Station, arriving at 20:38 on Wednesday evening.

The route 100 makes a loop round Maidenbower, starting a new journey at 2201 by Oriel School, which means we can wait for it to come back round the loop, boarding at Haworth Road bus stop, joining the 2212 Metrobus service 100 to Manor Royal East, arriving at 2230 on Wednesday evening.

We're very tired at this point and decide to have a rest, before taking the 0555 Southern service to East Grinstead, arriving 0625 on Thursday morning.

Hold a second please - I wish to object:

We next board the 0054 Metrobus (Go-Ahead London) service N64 back to East Croydon Station, arriving at 0119 in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Firstly, I had just taken us from East Croydon to New Addington on the tram. Why have we gone straight back to East Croydon again? There are plenty of options from New Addington.

I personally think there should be a rule whereby we are not allowed to return to the same destination that we have just come from, unless there is SOLELY one way in or out from that destination.

We're very tired at this point and decide to have a rest, before taking the 0555 Southern service to East Grinstead, arriving 0625 on Thursday morning.

Secondly, East Croydon is one of the biggest transport interchanges in Greater London. I don't think this game is about 'having a rest'; it's about keeping moving and to have a gap of almost five hours at a station that sees 24 hour operation and has interchange with National Rail, trams and buses (one of only five stations in the whole of Greater London to have this) is, I'm sorry to say, completely unreasonable.

Furthermore, there have been times where we have played all night. The only reason we should be calling it a day is if there are no more onward connections AT ALL from that location.

I think it is perfectly reasonable to head back in the same direction, we have done it before. I appreciate there may be options, but East Croydon has many options too, anyway the bus takes a different route to the tram.

I agree though that we do not need to wait until 0559 in the morning, as East Croydon is close to or served by many all night bus and train services.

The only way that such a matter should be dealt with is by a formal PM request to the forum quizmasters, stating that point you feel is in need of addressing as there is nothing in the rules of the quiz to clarify the said matter. They will then consider your request and if they feel that matter is indeed in need of rule clarification, a new section dealing with the said matter will then be added to the rules of this quiz. However, until such rule change is made, the status quo must apply.

I have personal experiences of making such applications on other quizzes which were discussed by the forum quizmasters and amendments made to the rules where the forum quizmasters felt it to be the appropriate protocol.

Indeed, this matter was one that York station seemed to forever to be a bone of contention in past days, until it was pointed out that there were night services there.

Assuming all opinions now have been expressed (my own co-incide with James Wake) and with no one person appointed to adjudicate on moves in this quiz, let's get going again.

Standing at the station, we observe many frowning "Disgusted"-looking East Grinstead commuters arriving for the next London train, Daily Telegraphs tucked under their arms and already mentally composing their letter to the Editor about the latest outrage.

We decide on a more cheerful travel option by boarding Compass Bus service 261 leaving outside the station at 0640 and arriving in Lewes Bus Station at 0802 Thursday morning.
