We go round the corner to the Kingsway Court bus stop for the 07.18 Stagecoach C&NL service 40 to Lancaster Bus Station arriving at 08.18 on Friday.

Think that it's a half mile walk from there to Lancaster train station, so we do just that in good time to board the 0851 Northern train service to Grange-over-Sands, arriving 0915 (Friday morning).

Bidding farewell to Cumbria/Lancashire, we next board the 0922 Northern service 1Y94 to Gatley, arriving there at 1108 on Friday morning.

We next take the 11.49 Northern service to Crewe arriving at 12.39 on Friday.

Well unfortunately that's it for the rest of the night now. First train isn't until 0550 so we instead get a head start and leave the station for the 0431 High Peak Skyline service 199 to Stepping Hill (The Crown), arriving there at 0518 on Saturday morning.

We take the 12 minute/0.5 mile walk to Woodsmoor station where we board the 06:25 Nothern service 2B01 to Manchester Piccadilly, alighting at Levenshulme at 06:38 on Saturday morning.

Leaving the station, we next board the 0734 Stagecoach Manchester service 172 to Chorlton (Southern Cemetery Bus Station), arriving there at 0800 on Saturday morning.

We take the nine minute walk to the Chorlton tram stop for the 08.13 Metrolink Pink Line service alighting at Rochdale Railway Station at 09.18 on Saturday.

Walkng to the bus stances outside the station, we next board the 1223 Transdev York Coastliner service 840 to Whitby (Boyes store on Victoria Square) that arrives there at 1450 on Saturday afternoon.

Across to the railway station, and onboard the 1557 Northern train service all the way to Hexham, arriving 1938 (Saturday).

We next take the 20.05 Northern service to Carlisle arriving at 21.02 on Saturday.

On arrival at Carlisle, cross over to the other side of the station for the 2149 Northern rail service to Whitehaven, arriving 2258 (Saturday).

In the morning we return for the 0945 Northern service 2C36 to Barrow-in-Furness, arriving there at 1108 on Sunday morning.

We leave the station and form outside the nearby Magistrates Court we take the 11.33 Stagecoach C&NL service X6 to Kendal Bus Station arriving at 13.09 on Sunday.

We next board the 1320 Stagecoach Cumbria and North Lancashire service 6 to Ulverston (St Mary's church on Victoria Road) that arrives there at 1430 on Sunday afternoon.

We take the seven minute walk to the railway station and board the 1505 Northern service 1Y98 to East Didsbury, arriving there at 1705 on Sunday afternoon.

Not quite done with the Lake District area just yet, so onboard the 1738 Northern train to Kendal, arriving 1932.

Bit limited for options now as frustratingly the last 555 bus left minutes beforehand, so all we can do for now is board the 2011 Northern service 2C21 to Oxenholme Lake District, arriving there at 2016 on Sunday evening.

Still not done with the Lake District, so we next board the 2022 Northern Trains service to Windermere that arrives there at 2041 on Sunday evening.

With most public transport having finished for the night we take the 23.38 Northern service to Wigan North Western arriving at 23.55 on Sunday.

Time for an overnight break, so we leave the station and at the bus stances on Wallgate outside the station, we next board the 0705 Arriva Merseyside service 385 to Carr Cross (the bus stop opposite the Crematorium on Southport Road) that arrives there at 0848 on Monday morning.

That was a remarkably late start for a weekday considering there were no less than 44 earlier bus departures from the bus station, 10 rail departures from North Western station and 7 rail departures from Wallgate station, all of which are under half a mile of each other.
