An EMT HST set visited the Wensleydale Railway today as part of UK Railtours' "Wensleydale Rambler" from London St Pancras. Beautiful weather allowed for a number of shots of this unusual working.

The HST was first seen at Leyburn Caravan Park, heading for a booked stop at Leyburn - http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkshirerailphotos/8665533543/in/photostream

The set was then seen at Leyburn Station, where it was booked to stand for 56 minutes - http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkshirerailphotos/8666634026/in/photostream/

Next stop was Wensley where the set was seen heading for Redmire - http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkshirerailphotos/8666633284/in/photostream/

The return working was first seen at Wensley Bank... - http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkshirerailphotos/8666633122/in/photostream/

...before finally being seen at Leyburn Caravan Park - http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkshirerailphotos/8666632974/in/photostream/

The normal Wensleydale services were being worked by a hybrid Class 101/117 DMU, which was also seen throughout the day.

The 1200 Leeming to Redmire was seen at Wensley nearing its destination - http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkshirerailphotos/8666633478/in/photostream/

The 1300 Redmire to Leeming was seen at Wensley Bank - http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkshirerailphotos/8666633630/in/photostream/

Finally the 1500 Leeming to Redmire was seen at Harmby - http://www.flickr.com/photos/yorkshirerailphotos/8666634250/in/photostream/

Excellent set of photos - I was on the train and and full marks to East Midlands Trains for turning out such a clean train set, inside and out - it had the appearance of being practically ex-works. And not forgetting the tour organisers who allocated just about the right length of waits at the various stopping points.

Is that Bolton Castle in the background in the shots taken at Wensley Bank? I didn't notice it at all from the train window but there again I was sitting facing backwards on the way out.
