Do you oppose seatbelts on the grounds crashing a car is dangerous and therefore everybody should know not to do it?

No I don't oppose seatbelts. They are a sensible mitigation of risk.

Opposing the limited extensions of the third rail woul be more akin to banning any further cars on the grounds that crashing one is dangerous.

The world is full of danger.

I assume you never leave your front door.
Thanks, again. I don't mind admitting that as I've got older I have become more cautious. Mind you, I've always been wary since being one of a group of teenagers one of whom drowned as a result of 'cold water shock' when we decided to cool off in a lake one hot summer day.

There are a lot of risky or dangerous things that it is not essential to do. Extending conventional third rail is one of them.
