Anyone want any flamecuts? Bogie springs or works plates?

They are even selling off skips....

It’s not every day you can snap up 450m of railway track at auction - but then this won’t be any ordinary sale.

With Stockton firm TJ Thomson ending its scrap metal processing business, there’s a lot of scrap metal and equipment that needs to go.

And on Wednesday, March 1, an extraordinary array of items will be auctioned off as the operation to clear the north Oxbridge site for housing continues.

So if you want a non-ferrous frag sorting plant, you know where to go.

And railway fans will be intrigued by various items of memorabilia, including number panels cut from the sides of scrapped engines and even a couple of locomotive horns.

It's always funny when an auction house with little experience with railwayana gets put in charge of something like this. Flamecut cabsides are "ID plates" and put in a lot of 10 so only dealers can really bid. D'oh !

You can "snap up" 450 metres of railway track for free at many locations around the country just by clearing away the rusty stuff the track maintenance people couldn't be bothered to remove.

Looking at the auction www site I see Heanor Haulage is closing all the heavy haul business. They have been a big mover of rolling stock by road. Will this cause problems.

Sad to see a company with this experience and skills giving up this side of business, however maybe they are forward looking and realise this side of the business is losing money. Hope none of the employees are losing their jobs or are being redeployed to other side of the business.
