The Colas locos were most probably:Evening guys, can anyone help with a few I saw on Basford Hall at Crewe earlier today please? There was a Colas 66 and a Colas 56 together with some NR ballast wagons behind them and there were also 3x FLR 86s raked together....would have been around 1040 this morning when I went past but couldn't quite make the numbers of them.
Thanks
70000 (TOPS: 98700) "Britannia"I was at Derwen College (near Gobowen) this morning around 1100. The college grounds back onto the Gobowen - Shrewsbury Railway Line. From the direction of the railway I heard a steam whistle and sound of a steam train passing and saw the tell tale exhaust but couldn’t actually see any stock.
From RTT this looks the likely candidate:

Can anybody help with an ID for my mystery steamer please?
I had a look on UKSTEAM.INFO but nothing seems to tie in with above.
The Colas locos were most probably:
56105 and 66846
There's about half a dozen FL 86s at Basford Hall at anyone time - as to which three you saw today...?
Take your pick from:
86607 (D - at Depot awaiting maintenance)
86609 (D)
86610 (X - exam/repair)
86628 (X)
86632 (X)
86638 (D)
Hi guys - any idea what this was done by today, along with the real headcode? I suspect a test train?

5E23 = 43154 + 44090 42218 42317 42285 + 43186
Be a shortened hst set for refurbishment think test trains only run under class 1 headcodes but not totally sure.Tis a shame to miss it, but at least I can record it down.
Thanks very much, especially with how quick you were to reply!
Correct re the test trains - they have "passengers" on board so are Class 1 (not Class 5 empty stock...)Be a shortened hst set for refurbishment think test trains only run under class 1 headcodes but not totally sure.

The move today was stock going from Laira to Doncaster Wabtec for refurb/modifications.
Thanks tim wasn’t sure if test trains ran under class 3 headcodes sometimes thanks for clearing that up.Correct re the test trains - they have "passengers" on board so are Class 1 (not Class 5 empty stock...)

The colas 37 hauled test trains run under a 1Q headcode usually thats how i wasn’t sureWhen you say ‘test trains’ if you are referring to the Network Rail test trains, they normally run as Class 3 apart from the NMT which runs as a Class 1.
If you are referring to things such as the Hitachi ‘test runs’ of Class 802s etc, they normally run as Class 5.

Hi, can anyone help me with HST powercar pairings please? Yesterday (24th October) I have 43315 being recorded both with 43319 on 1E15 09:52 Aberdeen - London Kings Cross, and with 43285 on 1Y88 16:03 York - London Kings Cross. I know it can't have been with both powercars, so can anyone tell me which of those two power cars it was with (43319 or 43285), and what was paired with whichever of 43319 and 43285 that wasn't paired with 43315. A little bit complicated I know, but hopefully someone will know the answer to this! Thanks in advance
Edit: Having checked through photographs I can confirm that 43315 was with 43319 on 1E15, so now the only info I haven't got is what was paired with 43285 on 1Y88. Can anyone confirm the identity of the other power car on 1Y88? Thanks in advance
Thanks!43313 - noted at Retford on 1N85 (inbound working of 1Y88)
