I got the Northern Trans-Pennine route. I’ve got to say I love the traction here with the DMU, 45, and 47, although the brakes are distinctly trickier to get right than the EMUs in the game!

Question: Is it possible to enable the AWS with the DMU/45/47?

You can do so but there is no AWS on the North Trans-Pennine route! Apparently that is accurate to the time they are simulating. Teesside has AWS if you have that route?

On the 101 the lever I think is, when you're sat on the drivers seat, down and to your right sort of where the saloon door enters the cab. On the 47/45 I think it's on the back wall above head height but might only at one end? It's been a long while since I messed around with any of them. But if you're only using them on that route I wouldn't worry to much as you're not missing out on anything!!

Edit: I was half right. On the 45 the controls are under the drivers seat but on the 47 they are on the back wall. I've attached a manual for the route which has quick start guides for the three different types of traction which includes how to enable the AWS (but the route doesn't feature it so you won't get any warnings whilst driving!).

I do not currently have it installed (I try to keep to 8-10 routes at a time), but....

I cannot remember where it is exactly on the 45/47, but something is telling me down to your left from the seat.
The DMU there is a lever under the 2nd mans seat.

Thanks, I will try it out.

I did notice there weren't any magnets on the tracks.

I do take them out of route so hopefully can get AWS working now.

Great fun as it is, it's also one of the most frustrating games. It's most unhelpful.
I'm trying to get a new livery someone designed; I subscribed to download, but then.... Nothing.
How do I proceed please?

After you've selected to 'subscribe', when you choose your train you should see options on the right to choose the livery - there's three tabs, Official, Personal and Creator's Club which defaults to Official so to get the Creator's livery you need to move to Creator's Club (Right trigger on an Xbox One controller) and it should list the liveries you're subscribed to.

Despite their best efforts every route still has a lifeless feel to it. The sun is too bright all year round, the weather system has been improved but still isn't a patch on the Armstrong Powerhouse weather pack in Train Sim Classic, there's not enough variety of traction on each route and very few of the routes are long enough for a good thrash.

Despite the weird passengers and worse graphics Train Sim Classic still feels more like a real railway with a better variety of rolling stock, longer routes, better add-ons and enhancements plus so much choice, the down-side is that it'll cost a beginner a lot of money to get a fairly decent collection.
I agree with this completely. I enjoy driving the Cross City route on TSW3, however in daylight the lighting is just completely wrong. The cab is blindingly bright as is the outside world. I have no complaints driving at night however!

I use TSW for Cross City but for anything else I prefer TS Classic

Are there any instructions for the livery designer as I can't make head nor tail of it.
Yet another case of me needing to be a mind reader?
I love the gameplay but this is rather frustrating.

One thing that has bugged me about TSW is services in real life that are guard operated, but are not reflected in the sim, will this be addressed with the new “guard mode”? And will SDO be addressed to be more accurate?

There's a new guard mode where you can check tickets and do the door controls in the upcoming Glossop/Hadfield route.
There's a slight drawback, there is only one scenario for this on the route.

I'd love to get the 2 buzzes on the DMU and roll back the years

There’s been several routes and traction in the game franchise where DOO isn’t a thing, but the game infers it is. 150s, 313s and 323s to name 3.

The new Glossop Line route is out now and comes with quite a number of layers to add extra services in, both AI and playable:

Experience the Class 323 in a new setting around Britain’s northwest, heading out east from Manchester Piccadilly Station along a section of the fabled Woodhead Line through to its current termini at both Hadfield and Glossop.
GlossopLine-Shot_1.jpg

Along the way is the border between Greater Manchester and Derbyshire, beyond which the three stations at the eastern end lie. This includes Dinting, laid out in a triangle formation to facilitate both Hadfield and Glossop, where cab ends require changing!
GlossopLine-Shot_5.jpg

But there’s more to do that just driving in this route. Two new and unique gameplay features appear in two Scenarios: ‘On Guard’ and ‘Gossip Line’, where players will experience life as a guard – operating doors and checking passengers’ tickets! A keen eye for good railfan photography is needed in ‘Gossip Line’ to capture the scenery and services that make up this bite-sized, complete end-to-end-to-end line.
You can see these Scenarios in action, along with other points of interest along Glossop Line in the video below:

You can also read more in our Glossop Gameplay Guide!

Services and Layers

GlossopLine-Shot_9.jpg

The Class 323 gets another outing, this time operating under Northern, which comes to Train Sim World for the first time! Services between Manchester and Hadfield via Glossop run at a rate of 2 trains per hour in addition to depot runs between Manchester and Ardwick Depot, which can include coupling and uncoupling. This popular EMU, first seen in Train Sim World 3: Birmingham Cross-City Line, features everything that made its West Midlands counterpart enjoyable to drive, including the characteristic whine from the traction motors.
A number of AI Class 323 services will also travel out of map to the likes of Crewe, Manchester Airport, Stoke-on-Trent and Liverpool Lime Street.
Players with much of the British Train Sim World back catalogue will be able to see and operate an eclectic mix of alternative services, ranging from freight and ECS movements to nostalgic railtours!

Midland Main Line

  • (Playable) EMT Class 158 ECS movement: Nottingham - Liverpool Lime Street which runs via Ashburys instead of Stockport.
  • (AI) EMT Class 158 at Manchester Piccadilly
  • (AI) EMT HST diversion to Manchester Piccadilly
TSW3_Glossop_Line_Branded_Screenshots8.jpg

Railhead Treatment Train

  • (Playable) Seasonal RHTT services between September – November
  • Static placement all year round.
Note: we are aware and are working hard on a fix for one service which currently isn't working as intended. This is as a result of last week's patch and requires a core update. This core update will also resolve the issues players are seeing with services in Southeastern Highspeed from the patch.
  • [Class 66 - 3S50, Wigan to Crewe, parts 1, 2, 3 and 4]
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Rail Operations Group Class 37/7

  • (AI) Seasonal services (some combined with West Somerset Railway)
TSW3_Glossop_Line_Branded_Screenshots5.jpg

Spirit of Steam

  • (Playable) LMS Jubilee Class railtour with Mk1 Coaches

Tees Valley Line

  • (Playable) Class 37 + Mk2 Coaches Railtour
  • Seasonal Static / AI services (combined with Northern Trans-Pennine)

Northern Trans-Pennine

  • (Playable) Class 47 + Mk2 Coaches + Class 20 (combined with Class 20 Loco Add-on)
  • Seasonal Static / AI services (combined with BR Heavy Freight Pack, West Somerset Railway and Southeastern Highspeed)
PlayStation players can currently get 45% off the Class 20 and Heavy Freight Pack Add-ons in the Mid-Year Deals Sale!

Launch & Loyalty Discounts

BCCfeatGLO.jpg

Anyone had a go yet?
I will be purchasing if it's still £20.
I'm wondering how the 'guard' mode experience is?

6 years and still nothing in East Anglia. Last route I bought was Edinburgh to Glasgow and was so disappointed that fundamental things like daylight being too bright, microstutters and the lack of variety of traction on every route they release. I agree with the comment above, while the graphics are really dated, I find Train Sim Classic more immersive even if a number of the routes/freeware/DLCs is somewhat overwhelming.

There was an apparent leak in the game files that confirmed an ECML in the game files

Given the class 700 being released that would make sense.

The 3 routes bundled with TSW3 were around 100 miles long so I'd expect London to Peterborough.

Variety is alright on the Dovetail made routes. The 3rd party ones can be lacking.

Probably worth putting in this thread as it's active. For anyone not aware Humble Bundle has a Train Sim World 3 Mega Haul pack for purchase. Seems to be Train Sim World 3 plus 15 or so DLC for a minimum payment of around £11. Obviously some of you might have some already but it's a good cheap way to add a few you might not. Available here.

I thought this was a ridiculously good deal and posted it in this forum in its own thread but didn't receive any response which was a surprise.

Glad to hear it was useful for someone :)

I've bought most of the DLC already but tempted to buy another set in case I have a friend who wants to get into the game on PC

If anyone needs some DLC I've got a few Steam codes, no base game though!

Scenario Planner

I played a scenario from the online sharing hub and part of it involved being held at a signal for another service to clear the way, if I correctly recall.

When I create scenarios using the planner (on Xbox) I only seem to be able to designate start and end points and any calls en route. Am I missing something here or is it only available to PC users (I imagine)?

I've edited the thread title as it's turned into more a general TSW3 topics thread

I'm just starting to watch this on youtube, which looks rather interesting.
I'll watch it when I have some time.
There is some much wrong with TSW3 but so much great about it, to the extent I don't use TS Classic anymore.
I'll post why when time is permitting

Lots of TSW news today:

-TS4 announced, including a UK route, German Route, US route as is now normal.
- Peterborough-Doncaster ECML route featuring the Azuma Announced
- Flying Scotsman steam locomotive pack announced with Maroon Mk2's (wouldn't an A4/Mallard make more sense on this stretch of the ECML)
- New route map released for Ormskirk-Preston-Blackpool North and South. I like this mini network route concept :)
- Plenty of other UK routes/stock announced as upcoming on the roadmap although no details yet.
- Swiss and Austria routes announced on the road map, as well as more US and German add ons.

Pah. What exactly was the point in TSW3, released less than a year ago? As the Americans would say, Dovetail love to 'nickel and dime' their audience.

While I agree to an extent and will certainly think carefully before purchasing at full price, there do at least seem to be a number of meaningful updates to the core game this time around- certainly more than last time. This has also been the business model for years now.
